The Race
[edit]This article needs to explain some Race terms paranthetically, such as "landcruiser" and "killercraft". I don't have time right now, but I'll do it later today.--Peter Knutsen 16:16, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
The historical characters in the D.P. also ought to be marked as such. I'll do that too, later. And Sam Yeager's science fiction reading habit should be mentioned.--Peter Knutsen 16:19, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
I didn't get around to explaining the "Race" terms, but thankfully somebody else did it. However, it seems to me that cavalry Capain Rance Auerbach plays an important role in the later books (he's not in the first at all, IIRC), so he deserves mention, among the other major characters. Also Skorzeny's effort to grab the Uranium from the destroyed "Race" ship is worth mentoining. It was far more valuable than what he did in the Balkans in the tetralogy.--Peter Knutsen 22:53, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- Moved Terminology to The_Race page, where it should be more appropriate. My memories of Auerbach are hazy, and I'd completely forgotten about Skorzeny and the Uranium. You should go ahead and add those parts, your memory is better than mine :) Arasaka 22:34, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Split
[edit]OK, I didn't start the split idea, but yeah, it sounds good. I don't think a disambiguation page per se would be the approach, more like a common portal to the others (one per book), with some common elements to present the general idea. Thoughts? Arasaka 00:25, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with a split. Initially, it might be good to send everything except the summary into separate pages for each book. If no one objects within the next couple days, I'm going to go ahead and do it.
- I started splitting. I'm using the wikinovels template and placing elements in commentary (because I don't have all the info and it's a really big template). So far, In the Balance has moved and I expect to work on others soon, leaving here the overall story, links to the novels, and the list of characters. Arasaka 04:13, June 28 2006 (UTC)
Split completed! I'll start working on Colonization soon. Arasaka 02:58, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Cordell meeting Lizards
[edit]I am editing the last sentence of Vyacheslav Molotov's information on the list of major characters to exclude Cordell Hull as being among the first the human diplomats to have met the Lizards aboard one of their ships, he stated during the meeting in London (page 255 for me, Ch 10) that he hasn't "done any of this Buck Rogers stuff" and that the USA had only had low-level talks with the Lizards (on American soil) regarding the transporation of food and the exchange of POWs.
I hope this wasn't too minor an edit to warrant this explanation.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.180.166.159 (talk • contribs) 19:26, June 30, 2006
Historical inaccuracies
[edit]As much as I enjoyed the series, I wonder if we should mention that the series has a completely inaccurate portrayal of Polish and Jewish resistances during WWII (i.e. Polish resistance role is vastly minimized, and large scale Jewish resistance is de facto invented for the purpose of the series)? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 18:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Panzerfaust
[edit]I'm almost done with the 4th book and wondering why the author didn't have anything in the series about the Panzerfaust. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.100.250.88 (talk) 09:20, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
If I had to venture a guess, I'd say it's because they were not effective against Lizard landcruisers. One of their landcruisers is comparable to a modern M-1 Abrams tank, which would shrug off a panzerfaust with no trouble. It's been ages since I read this series though, so it may be something else. I just don't recall for certain. Wyldstaar (talk) 16:42, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]Is there going to be a merge with Tosev Timeline or not? From what I can see, no one has even attempted to argue a point. Dark hyena (talk) 16:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Since the time line covers two series of books, not just this one, I don't think a merge is a good idea. - LA @ 05:23, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
No Progess
[edit]How come this page has been tagged so many times for almost a year and yet it appears no progress has been made on these issues? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.245.62.92 (talk) 04:51, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
