Merging with Ferguson highway
[edit]Now that Ferguson Highway is expanded, do you think it would make sense to incorporate the additional information of this article into that one, rather than have two articles, one of which just covers a smaller section of the first? - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 21:03, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- Makes sense to me, although one of the sources is no longer useful. I don't know what you have against articles about local access roads, but just because are not highways does not mean they can not have their own articles. Volcanoguy 21:13, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have nothing against local roads, but its redundant to have a short article about a facet of a topic already covered by another short article. Its better to combine the information into the article covering the slightly broader topic to make that topic more comprehensive. Also keep in mind that there are no secondary sources discussing Wilson Lake Road, but lots covering the Ferguson Highway. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 03:36, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- I see. But the thing I don't understand is that roads like Wilson Lake Road and Lowell Lake Road are historically important because they are remains of the Ferguson. There might be reliable sources to create an article for Lowell Lake Road but I will have to do some research before I make one. I agree it's better off to merge this article to the Ferguson Highway one for now until secondary sources can be found. Volcanoguy 12:30, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- They are historically important, but you'd be hard pressed to find more than a few sources describing some basic facts. In the Ferguson Highway article, the Route description can reference all the old trails. By the way, not sure if I mentioned it, but I came across a book at a local library for the Ferguson highway with a map of the road attached. This is a circa 1940 book, so it's the original route! - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 15:55, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

On the other hand, why was the "major junctions" information changed? Wilson Lake Road does not extend north of Latchford and south of North Bay. Volcanoguy 21:17, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- The dash means towards. At the south end of the road you can drive south on Highway 11 towards North Bay, for example. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 03:36, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
