Total loss in present bear market

The article says that the current bear market has resulted in the loss of about $11 trillion. But if you take the peak (16000) - the current level (7000) = 9000. That could correspond to a $9 trillion loss if each point of the index corresponds to a billion dollars. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.243.132.94 (talk) 15:47, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, if you look at the actual figures; the index was at its high at around the 15,800 level and proceeded downwards to the 6,800 level which is a loss of 9,000 as you correctly pointed out. Now its said that each 1,000 point movement equals 1.2 trillion. So 1.2 multiplied by 9 equals 10.8 Lenfropp —Preceding undated comment added 22:03, 8 July 2009 (UTC).
