Maehem we appear to be edit warring here. I must insist that you stop using Ancestry and WP:OR as a source for biographical data. See the link above. CT55555(talk) 03:25, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- May I ask why a Texas vital records document is not acceptable? Maehem (talk) 03:28, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- You can ask, but consensus has already been reached at the link above. CT55555(talk) 03:43, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- Does WP:BLPPRIMARY and the rest of WP:BLP help? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:44, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
Tried adding Willie Cantu’s DOB
[edit]But it is getting edited out by another editor. His DOB of May 26, 1946 appears in the Texas DoH Bureau of Vital Statistics for Corpus Christi in 1946. His birth name is also there, listed as Guillermo Cantu.

- I have interviewed Willie across the last 3 years. The first part of my interview with him is cited in this article. I have worked with him on his genealogical tree. I do not understand why vital records documents are not acceptable. POC like Willie are often ignored by the press, which is why there is nothing to link to but the first part of the video interview I published on YouTube. How are POC supposed to have Wiki entries when there is very little published media to cite? Maehem (talk) 03:32, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- We cannot use original research to write wikipedia.
- Wikipedia cannot fix gaps in what is published, sadly. If you can get your information into a reliable source (i.e. not YouTube) then it could get into Wikipedia. CT55555(talk) 03:45, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- I didn’t link to the YouTube video. All citations in this article were created by another editor.
- And I do not understand how a vital public record, digitized and uploaded by the state of Texas, is considered a questionable source. This is why American POC do not have a sizable presence on Wiki, relative to white American people. Maehem (talk) 03:54, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- If you follow the link to WP:ANCESTRY you will see links to six conversations where this was discussed and then you might understand.
- Basically, if you find that disagreeable, you'll need to open a seventh debate and persuade consensus, not persuade me here.
- I hope you'll revert your edit, as I don't want to edit war with you, but I may need to flag this at a noticeboard if we cannot reach agreement. WP:BLPN
- I hope you remember it was me who created this article, I am in favour of creating articles about POC who are systematically under represented here. But I am also pro following the consensus and being collaborative. CT55555(talk) 04:04, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- If it helps, while WP:BLPPRIMARY can't be used for DOB:s, a WP:ABOUTSELF source could work, if there is one. And if we can't have a DOB in this article, that's fine. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:05, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
