"Historical District" vs. "Historic District"?

[edit]

Preference? Both are used. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:13, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How is it signed locally? – TheGridExe (talk) 19:25, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@TheGridExe: Great question! I don't see any images of plaques at Commons, but if I have a chance to revisit Georgetown in the next few days, I'll try to find one. Otherwise, we'll need to make a decision based on sourcing, at least until someone else can confirm what a plaque says (if one exists). ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:27, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Another Believer, from my experience I would see waypoints to the area as "brown" color-coded signage based on MUTCD. I know this can also be signed incorrectly but signage is usually done on a criteria dependent on the state level. Also, there have been times that NRHP has messed up with the entries, there's a page about it. A note can be placed in the article about both instances. – TheGridExe (talk) 19:50, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would definitely go with "Historic" based on all 3[2 of 3] of the refs in the article [1], [2], [3], as well as consistency with the Commons category and every other article. Station1 (talk) 20:30, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Correction: I could have sworn all 3 refs said "historic" but one does say "historical". Sorry. Station1 (talk) 06:06, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'll go ahead and move the article, based on this discussion and one at WPNRHP. We can always move back if needed. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:00, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
