Substantive grade

Morris's substantive or actual highest grade was colonel. He was a brevet brigadier general, actually in service, during the American Civil War. Unlike the many honorary brevets awarded after the war was over, this may support the "(general)" in the title of the article. I will leave it for anyone who wishes to ponder whether that is the best view of the title. Donner60 (talk) 02:49, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I found out later after creating the article from a red link there's another William W. Morris who was awarded the Medal of Honor, so I added the (general) qualifier. Is William Walton Morris a better article title? Kirk (talk) 15:30, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
