Most reliable sources refer to Sturgis simply as "William Sturgis". Therefore I have moved this article to reflect the most commonly used name, per WP:COMMONNAME. A number of dubious, unreliable, self-published websites have given him the name "William F. Sturgis" (WikiTree, Find a Grave, etc.), but this may be simple mistake perpetuated by subsequent careless/uncritical users. Even if the middle initial can be verified in reliable source, it would represent a very small minority of uses, and should not be used as a title. Unfortunately, this article has been called "William F. Sturgis" since 2006, meaning countless mirror websites, bots and humans who unquestioningly rely on Wikipedia may have propagated the dubious name in the meantime, muddying the veracity of the claim ("citogenesis"). --Animalparty!
