Last survivor of "Dillingham Commission"
[edit]Probably not hugely relevant, but given the enduring importance of that early-20th-century immigration commission, it seems worth noting at least in passing that he was the final survivor and was able to provide first-hand discussions of the goings-on a half century after the fact. 174.31.154.235 (talk) 05:48, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Implicated in the corrupt food service conditions of Ellis Island
[edit]This seems to deserve some note. Bennet protected former colleagues in their concession food contract to Ellis Island immigrants, to the great detriment of those immigrants. When called out on the financial connections, he smeared his the commissioner of immigration for the port of New York Frederic C. Howe. https://www.history.com/news/the-messy-fight-to-feed-immigrants-at-ellis-island
