Merge

an article about the incident was already created. Storm05 13:54, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

I think merge discussions usually happen in the target's talk page: Talk:2006 Virginia Tech lockdown ~a (usertalkcontribs) 15:07, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
William Morva is the more natural name for the article and it predates the incident article. BigDT 15:28, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

New Merge discussion

Previous merge discussion was here: Talk:2006 Virginia Tech lockdown#Merge and was in the opposite direction

I propose redirecting 2006 Virginia Tech lockdown to William Morva. I've copied some text from the 2006 Virginia Tech lockdown#Aftermath to William Morva. ~a (usertalkcontribs) 17:58, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Citation error

There's currently two citations ("a" and "b") listed under each reference (and six for reference 2). There should only be one for each, (save for reference 2, which should have three). Can anyone figure out what's causing this? Was a bracket sign missed somewhere? I tried reverting the page a bit back, but I didn't solve the issue.Paulcleveland 19:57, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't see the problem you describe. I only see one citation for each reference: (it's listed as "^" because there is only one). For reference two, I see four citations: (it's listed as "^", "a", "b", and "c" because there are four citaitons). Do you still see the problem you describe, or has it been fixed (was the problem temporary)? ~a (usertalkcontribs) 20:58, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
It must be some strange glitch with my work computer. I see "^ a b" next to all references, and "^ a b c d e f" next to reference two. I'll check my home computer later.Paulcleveland 21:33, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Check Facts??

This guy is described as the shooter in the 2007 incidents. Police have not identified him as a shooter and probably won't since he's in jail! I think someone got their stories mixed up...

Also, shouldn't someone add what he was initially arrested for? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.223.1.192 (talk) 15:45, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Update needed

The lead of this article states that Morva was sentenced to be executed on October 21, 2008; however, the article refers to him in the present tense, and is still in 'category:living people'. Did the execution take place as scheduled? If so, the article needs to be updated to reflect that. Terraxos (talk) 23:26, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Communication with outside world

I have no idea if what Morva says is true or not, but Morva has been communicating with the outside world:

http://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/d8u5d/my_friend_from_high_school_is_on_death_row_here/

I'm not the knee-jerk "all cops are heros" type of guy, but bear in mind that Morva is clinically insane and/or a sociopath so read his letter with a very large grain of salt. I know there are a lot of issues in the United States' penal system, but sociopaths tend to be good liars. The letter really draws you in and elicits sympathy -- and then you read the comments below and learn the history of this guy and the letter suddenly becomes very creepy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TragicHipster (talkcontribs) 13:46, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

2017 Updates

The article in general, the sources and the photo were outdated. The photo is not only outdated (it was taken in 2006) we are now in 2017 and pursuant to the living biographical articles guideline mugshot should be avoided as photos to the extent possible. Since it is both outdated and a mugshot it was removed. Several links were broken. Updated the article with new 2017 legal proceedings and developments in the case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VSCE1234 (talkcontribs) 01:03, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

A few organizational and content changes

Fleshed out a little of his early life - specifically his time in the Virginia tech Community that was missing. Rearranged content and headings to improve the flow of piece, thus its readability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VSCE1234 (talkcontribs) 17:58, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Added a recently released podcast about the case as a new external link — Preceding unsigned comment added by VSCE1234 (talkcontribs) 16:31, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

New Developments in the case June 20,2017- Updated

Attorney's for William Morva filed clemency claim on June 20, 2017. Several new articles were released on this date. Updated information based on these new articles and also added a section called mental illness because it seems as if the basis of the clemency petition has to do with mental health issues. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VSCE1234 (talkcontribs) 16:58, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
