There were four William Moffats, William Moffat MP (1737-1822), William Moffat Jnr (1774-1851), Captain William Moffat (1774-1850) and William Palmer Moffat (1797-1833), who were members of the same family and all were alive in the years 1797-1822. At least three were involved with the East India Company - William Moffat MP (1737-1822), Captain William Moffat (1774-1850) and William Palmer Moffat (1797-1835). Three - William Moffat Jnr (1774-1851), Captain William Moffat (1774-1850) and William Palmer Moffat (1797-1835) would probably not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for pages of their own. As an MP, William Moffat (1737-1822) does meet those guidelines. One reason for the information about his family on this page is to disambiguate the different William Moffats.--Kylenano (talk) 07:34, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
