Middle name

LOC suggests William H(enry) Cabell—William H(enry) Cabell, head-and-shoulders portrait, left profile; as well as NGA. The fact is that William Cabell added middle "H." in April 1795 after marrying Col. William Cabell, Sr., daughter to distinguish himself from two other men named William Cabell in the same extended family. See Brown, A.
