explain what this is doing in this article

[edit]

There is a paragraph starting "In 1790, General Josiah Harmar, with a poorly trained and ill-equipped army and volunteer militia, ...". I fail to see reference to Darke in it Carlm0404 (talk) 01:24, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I see Darke mentioned in next to last sentence. Carlm0404 (talk) 01:26, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good source here

[edit]

The sources cited as of now are old and not great. Here's a good one I hope someone gets around to making use of: https://www.lva.virginia.gov/public/dvb/bio.php?b=Darke_William Brent Tarter,"William Darke (1736–1801)," Dictionary of Virginia Biography, Library of Virginia (1998– ), published 2015] Kevin1776 (talk) 01:36, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I notice a birthplace discrepancy in this article. At the head, I find "Born 1736 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania". But under Early Life, I find 'William Darke was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania on May 6, 1736, the son of Joseph Darke and his wife, according to the "Hopewell Friends History."[1]' How are these different places arrived at? I do know that Bucks County adjoins Philadelphia. (William Darke gets my attention because his Revolution command included my ancestor Simeon Harris.) But when I clicked on that source 1, I only found, for birth, 1736 in Phila. Co. Carlm0404 (talk) 03:48, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
