- New enough. Long enough (5x expansion). Hook is interesting, but the warhistoryonline.com has "a lifejacket", as does the WP article. From "his lifejacket" one would likely infer as being his one and only lifejacket. QPQ not yet done. All paragraphs cited except the 2nd one in "United States Air Force career". NPOV throughout. The first para of "World War II" is too close to Find-a-grave. Edwardx (talk) 17:49, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Edwardx: I made edits to the article based on some your suggestions, which includes paraphrasing the first para of the "World War II" section and citing the source of the 2nd para in "United States Air Force career". Toadboy123 (talk) 04:19, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, Toadboy123. Sorry, but that is still too close to Find-a-grave. I have tweaked the hook to "threw a lifejacket". Edwardx (talk) 12:27, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Edwardx: Could you state which part of the article is closely still related to Find-A-Grave? Both the article and Find-A-Grave used the USAF official bio as the main source and as a result there can be some parts which could be similar. Toadboy123 (talk) 14:50, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- Very sorry, but using Earwig to compare with the USAF official bio, the close paraphrasing issue is much more widespread. Use the tool yourself if you disagree. Edwardx (talk) 22:34, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Edwardx: Using the tool, I realise the issue is due to the presence of the Dunham's Distinguished Service Cross citation, which is present as whole in both the article and Find-A-Grave. However, award citations are public domain due to it being made by a member of the US Armed Forces. Should I remove the citation as whole? I added it because award citation is PD and it could add some weight to the article. Toadboy123 (talk) 11:40, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- There is no issue with the citation. Why would there be? In any event, when I run Earwig for comparison with the USAF bio, Earwig does not even get as far as including the citation. You need to address the paraphrasing. Edwardx (talk) 12:45, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Edwardx: The AF bio is a public domain site and there should be no issue adding it article provided the source is cited. Regarding the paraphrasing, please elucidate the parts in the article that you feel that requires improvement and if possible, please assist me in doing so. - @Edwardx: @Toadboy123: Hey guys. What's the status of this nomination? Onegreatjoke (talk) 20:14, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Onegreatjoke: The article had some paraphrasing issues due to some of its PD content from USAF also used in Find-A-Grave. I managed to resolve the issues and paraphrase most of the lines. I am waiting for an overall response and further modifications from other users on the acceptance of the article for DYK. Toadboy123 (talk) 12:48, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- Any updates on this? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 16:06, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oops. Thank you, Narutolovehinata5 for the kind reminder. On further reflection, Toadboy123 has made significant effort to address the paraphrasing. Edwardx (talk) 13:15, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
