Whoops, apparently he did not have Tommy john surgery. I fixed this. --CFIF 21:21, July 9, 2005 (UTC)

Ohman had Tommy John surgery on January 17, 2002. During rehabilitation from the ulnar ligament transfer on his left elbow, Ohman had arthroscopic surgery (January 22, 2003) to remove a "bone chip" from the same joint. Both surgeries were performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles, California. During recovery from the "scope" surgery, inflamation to the ulnar nerve required a third surgery in November of 2003. An ulnar nerve transposition was deemed necessary in order for Ohman to compete at the Major League level, and was performed by Dr. Don Sheridan in Phoenix, Arizona. Post-surgeries, Ohman experienced success at the AAA-level during the 2004 minor league campaign. After the regular season, he proceeded to compete in the Mexican Winter League. In that winter season, Ohman set a new Mexican Winter League record for consecutive saves to begin a season with 14 straight before being called back in December to the U.S. by the Chicago Cubs.

Is he really German?

[edit]

On the Chicago Cubs page, he has a German flag next to his name. But if he is a son of a military person, he'd be American despite being born in Germany. DandyDan2007 23:26, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seems this has been fixed, but just in case - Will is my second cousin-once-removed and he is indeed an American citizen. I can ask for clarification (I don't know him personally, but am in regular contact with his uncle and I think I have his Dad's email around here somewhere) but I believe his Dad was in the military and he was born on an army base.
FYI - The surname is Finnish (although some of the family is Swedish) and his great-grandfather, a Finnish sailor, married my great aunt. Emperor (talk) 00:42, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
