[edit]Deleted the remarks about Manchester United from the League Cup, it is just plain bragging and has very little relevance to the player — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.42.249.210 (talk) 22:49, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

147.197.190.40 (talk) 21:10, 5 March 2014 (UTC) Zaha position is a winger not a forward. Go and check on man utd.com he position is a winger. He counts as a midfielder for Man Utd and England. Even SAF said Zaha is a winger
- He can also play in the centre, so he's not just a winger. He may play more regularly on the wing (as a wing forward, not a wide midfielder), but he should be listed as a generic forward. – PeeJay 22:16, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
Height data.
[edit]At present, Wilfried Zaha's height is sourced from the PFA Handbook. I propose adding a citation to the Premier League (1.80m) and switching it to metres first for the following reasons:
- It would then be consistent with the usage of Premier League and Ivory Coast usage. (Wilfried Zaha is from the Ivory Coast.)
Are there any comments or concerns? Michael Glass (talk) 04:04, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
- My concern is that you want to replace a perfectly good source with another just to change which units take precedence in his profile. I'm not keen on this. – PeeJay 09:22, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
- Equally, what relevance is his place of birth, when he plays internationally for England? I find these constant suggestions to switch from one unit to another to be a total waste of time; just leave it as it is. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 09:26, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
u21
[edit]@Nfc123: He can still play for the u21 team, u21 teams can have a small number of players in the squad who are over 21. @Qed237: Can you help? TeaLover1996 (talk) 18:04, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure you can only play for the Under-21s if you're aged under 21 at the start of each European Championship qualifying cycle. – PeeJay 19:07, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Nfc123 and TeaLover1996: Yes, there are players that can play in u21 if they alre older than 21. As PeeJay says players that are older than 21 currently participate in the under-21 European Championship as they were under 21 when qualification started. Currently you need to be born before 1 January 1992 to play in the tournament. In the "U23" tournament in the Olympics it will be 1 January 1993. Qed237 (talk) 20:58, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
- Looking at Zaha, I dont think he can play under-21 anymore as there are no more started tournaments/qualifications and he can not start a new competition as he is over 21. Qed237 (talk) 21:01, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Nationality in first sentence
[edit]Given Zaha had played international football for 2 countries, having been born in one and lived in the other since early childhood it is best to leave mention of nationality out of the first sentence. There had been some persistent edit warring over this recently, so could the person concerned please discuss this here to gain consensus for any changes. Spike 'em (talk) 19:25, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

How so? Haaland was born in England yet we have no problems describing him as a Norwegian footballer. I don't think one's birthplace matters. Self-identification does. If Zaha identifies as Ivorian then he is to be called Ivorian. There's no ambiguity there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HeteroGuy (talk • contribs) 20:29, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- He has played international football for 2 teams, so rather than edit warring over it we can just stick to the clearly demonstrable facts about which teams he currently plays for. Do you have a source where he clearly identifies as Ivorian? Spike 'em (talk) 20:49, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
Perhaps Ivorian-British? Or Ivorian-born British? Anyways, he was born there and now plays for the national team. I think Ivorian is perfectly fitting. MarioBayo (talk) 3:29, 29 January 2021 (AEST)
I think it should read as Wilfried Zaha is an Ivorian footballer. He is Ivorian but moved to England when he was 4. If Sterling switched to Jamaica wouldn't he become a Jamaican footballer? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BuckTheArsenalFan342 (talk • contribs) 10:38, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- No, it's best not to say anything about his nationality in the opening sentence in cases like this. – PeeJay 12:20, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- I wholly disagree, as consensus has held in most other cases that if a player was born in the same country they currently represent internationally, their nationality is listed as such in the lede. This is totally standard. Nationality in the lede is only ambiguous when the player currently represents a nation different from that in which they were born. Côte d'Ivoire or Ivory Coast
[edit]Should all references reading Ivory Coast be changed to Côte d'Ivoire? 2407:7000:9B74:AF41:4062:16D2:106E:8A9C (talk) 03:12, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
- No, the common name of the country in English is Ivory Coast. Spike 'em (talk) 04:15, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
- It's this that bothers me though
- " It was in October 1985 that the government requested that the country be known as Côte d'Ivoire in every language, without the hyphen, contravening the standard rule in French that geographical names with several words must be written with hyphens. "
- Even when I've been in the region in places like anglophone Ghana it's always Côte d'Ivoire.
- I remain bemused. 🤷🤷 2407:7000:9B74:AF41:E0ED:273F:FDD5:85F4 (talk) 07:37, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
- This discussion needs to take place at Talk:Ivory Coast, not here. In the wider anglophone world, Ivory Coast remains more common, and WP follows that, not necessarily the official name of a country. Spike 'em (talk) 07:47, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Fabrizio romano has confirmed that wilfred zaha will join galatasaray in 23/24 season. 2A02:8109:9D80:1F60:F497:372F:F2DA:B9BE (talk) 20:17, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- Okay… but he hasn’t joined yet, so no need to make any changes. – PeeJay 21:31, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
Ivory Coast removed?
[edit]Why has Zaha’s time at Ivory Coast, games/goals been removed? Not it looks like he hasn’t played any international football since youth days!? Elliotstone25 (talk) 02:37, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
