Gamevice is suing nintendo for copyright but it looks very different from the switch and how nintendo planned to put a phone in a switch is not a idea from gamevice — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:569:7C00:7F00:4D44:9D:DFC5:6DF9 (talk) 06:45, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Brand Name

[edit]

Why are they calling it the Wikipad? In my mind, the word "wiki" has become associated with crowdsourcing knowledge, if not free culture in general, yet this device does not have an open design, does not encourage user participation in content generation, nor is it in some way optimized specifically for viewing wiki sites... So what are they going for? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.32.78.148 (talk) 18:51, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

While that's what most people associate the word wiki with, that's not the original meaning. It's just a Hawaiian word for "quick". See wikt:wiki#Hawaiian. It's probably true that there are companies using Wiki in their names to cash in on the subconscious association with Wikipedia, but I dont think it's fair to say that Wikipad is one of them. Screen resolution

[edit]

The article states both that the device's screen resolution is 1280x800 and that it is "1080p HD". These statements cannot both be true. If the intention is to state that the device can output at 1080p when connected to a suitable display device, or maybe that it supports playback of 1080p content (albeit at a lower resolution), perhaps that should be specifically mentioned. I've not made an edit as I'm not overly familiar with the device so perhaps someone with more information could help? Cpc464 (talk) 12:20, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Requires attention; very problematic article

[edit]

In my opinion, this subject is popular enough to warrant some attention and be improved above minimal start-class simply to a somewhat acceptable Wikipedia entry. As it stands right now, the page reads like an advertisement with cluttering descriptors like "high quality" tossed everywhere along with very questionable grammar, among other things... I feel like the entire article needs to be scrapped and rewritten. It is at the level where I was embarrassed upon discovery, and I feel like this article would be better off simply being a stub/a redirect/deleted. 98.67.98.210 (talk) 16:14, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

C/E

[edit]

One would have to be asleep not to see that this article was laden with 75 pounds of COI marketing cruft. However, I've done my very best to clean it up and leave it as close-to-encyclopedic as I can. --Bddmagic (talk) 17:07, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article is still problematic

[edit]

There were still a lot of parts in the article that made the article look like an advertisement. I removed everything that looked like advertising. I also added citations and removed the hardware section because it was just an overview of the hardware, which is something you would probably find in an advertisement. I also changed one of the sub titles from "Wikipad 7 Overview" to "Release" because that section discussed the release of the controller and "Wikipad 7 Overview" just made the article look like an advertisement. I think the article was created by an employee at Gamevice who was paid to create the article, hence why it was written like an advertisement and I hope the article continues to be improved heading into the future. 344917661X (talk) 14 May 2018
