Szpilman

[edit]

Did Szpilman also accuse her of collaboration? The source just associates the two (they knew each other) but doesn't say anything about him making that accusation. In Polish Wiki version it says that Szpilman "learned" of the accusations about her towards the end of the war, but not that he agreed with it. Since Szpilman - as far as these things go - is a pretty well known figure in the West, I think this kind of accusation carries some serious weight and so should be properly cited. Mind if I remove it? Like... soon?radek (talk) 08:55, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

POV template

[edit]

I am the author of the Polish version of the article about Wiera Gran. This article has status of the "good article". However, the Polish version has seen very turbulent times to the point that most of the references and description of the Wiera Gran collaboration case are currently removed from the article. It seems that in both Polish and English (and now French) versions of the article sons or sympathizers of Wladyslaw Szpilman are modifying an article to include material which shows that Wiera Gran was a Gestapo informer during the WWII. This is probably because they are involved in a dispute with the biographer of Wiera Gran - Ms. Agata Tuszynska. The dispute centers around accusation by Wiera Gran that Wladyslaw Szpilman was collaborating with the Gestapo during the WWII and statements by I. Turkow and others that Gran was a collaborator. There is no court verdict which proves that she was a collaborator. The modifications done by the symphatizers of this point of view are adding quotations form an unpublished letter by Irena Sendlerowa or cite Marek Edelman to that effect. However, the letter of Sendler was written well after the WWII on the request of W. Gran's accuser (Turkow). Also, Marek Edelman, according to the recent article (2010) in Gazeta Wyborcza, had changed his mind and asked to clear Gran's name (this resulted in publications in Gazeta Wyborcza). It is not true that Gran lost the court case in 1982 in Israel - it was dismissed. There are other statements which are untrue. The whole article doesn't even try to deal with Gran's artistic achievements. The current version of the article is flawed and non-neutral. In the Polish version of the article there are about 20 references to Gran's collaboration case which present more balanced view. Also, the references to Sendler letter are not verifiable and were published on the internet only on the home page of Andrzej Szpilman. I do not have time to edit the English version but I do hope that somebody translates the Polish version so the article is balanced. Pcirrus2 (talk) 20:48, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How about her music?

[edit]

I arrived here after listening to some of her tangos from before the war. She was a wonderful singer. I was very interested to see that she sang in Yiddish in the 1939 polish movie On a heym I wish somebody would help dig up some more information about her musical life. this article is overwhelmed with sketchy unproven politics - the feud sounds to me like musicians furious with each other who both lived through an experience that could make anybody insane.Jane Peppler (talk) 03:04, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Should we regard her as a collaborator? PatGallacher (talk) 19:02, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
