Notability

[edit]

Very weak here about proof (or claims) of Covington's notability. We can be fairly confident she existed, based on the brief notes of the Kentucky Women Artists project, but that's it. Should all Kentucky painters who ever existed have a Wikipedia article?

The mostly unsourced article about her father Wickliffe Cooper has this unsourced line about her: "Married attorney Robert Wells Covington of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Mary Wickliffe Cooper became an artist with a national reputation (using her married named of Wickliffe Covington), and some of her paintings still hang today in the Kentucky Museum and Library in Bowling Green." I can't find any trace of work in the Kentucky Museum online collection, but then maybe the records are offline? Sionk (talk) 18:29, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop Press: This archived page of the Kentucky Museum seems to confirm her painting Portrait of Clarence Underwood McElroy is in the Kentucky Museum collection. Sionk (talk) 18:34, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
