The Times quote

[edit]

The quotation about "a dirty German-Jewish international financial attempt..." does not appear in The Times of 31 July 1914. The reference currently is to Niall Ferguson's Pity of War. In turn that refers to one of Steed's books. It does not refer to The Times. 185.122.232.207 (talk) 18:17, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the passage to the way it is described in Morris' book. Lord Rothschild had summoned Hugh Chisholm to his office and asked him to ensure that the Times stopped publishing articles that would lead England into war. Steed responded by making this statement during a Times editors' conference on July 31, 1914. XeniaBW (talk) 11:53, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
