Belief in connection with the slave trade
[edit]I remember from junior school (ages 7-11) in Bristol, one of the teachers telling us that Blackboy Hill got its name from a young black male servant or slave. His wealthy master had him stand outside his house on the northern part of Whiteladies Road to welcome people who came to visit. I have no idea where the teacher got the story from, or if there is any truth in it, but it does attest to a local belief in a link with the slave trade. If such a person existed, he might have been a so-called privilege negro Kellerp (talk) 16:33, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
