White oil

[edit]

Let's be consistant. "White oil is sold commercially as a petroleum oil-based organic pesticide..." and "typical mixture is 4 parts of vegetable oil (a non-mineral oil) to one part of liquid dish-washing soap/detergent". If you can make white oil out of olive oil, then it isn't petroleum based. Did we mean that one can make something sort of like white oil...? That's not what we said. 24.74.114.150 (talk) 13:06, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"White oil" or "Horticultural oil"

[edit]

White oil is a highly refined mineral oil that is used for pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics as well as agriculture. There is a page in wikipedia for horticultural oil, which covers only the pesticidal / insecticidal use of various grades of mineral oil including white oil. Therefore I suggest this page should cover all uses of white oil, and the horticultural oil page should focus on the insecticidal uses. I will now improve the horticultural oil page. If there are no objections I will come back to this white oil page in 2 or 3 weeks and modify it accordingly. Bosula (talk) 15:49, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The horticultural oil page is now improved to cover many aspects of its use as an insecticide. I will merge this page into the horticultural oil page after two weeks if there are no objections. Bosula (talk) 14:20, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
