"A golden dragon is associated with the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex and forms its modern county flag." This is incorrect - there is no modern county of Wessex. Have deleted that section Abdul tom (talk) 23:50, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The trouble with this article is that a number of editors have bought into the misconception that the white dragon flag was used as a national emblem in pre-Norman England, a claim that has no historical basis (anybody who disagrees is welcome to provide hard evidence of the flag being used prior to the twentieth century). Personally, I have my doubts as to whether the flag should be mentioned at all in the article, when there are few if any reliable sources that provide information on its background. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.203.24.241 (talk) 11:17, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Considering the current "Modern Usage" relates to a poem from the 17/1800's, would other modern usages be relevant?
In the Manga and Anime "Highschool DxD" dating from 2008. The welsh dragon named, in this case named Ddraig, is a significant character, whose rival is specifically the white dragon, in this case named Albion, a clear reference to the red/white dragon rivalry mentioned on this page.2A02:C7F:741D:7F00:3497:372A:312E:55A6 (talk) 19:37, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
