error?

Whilst?

I've never seen "Whilst" as being the original before, and the scans of the 1700 "A Supplement to the New Version of Psalms" have it as While. Anyone have a reference to back up the "Whilst" claim in the article? --Bcola (talk) 20:43, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UK and Canada Standard Tune

In the United Kingdom and Canada the standard is the alternative arrangement using the music "Old Winchester",

THAT STATEMENT is incorrect

Washed socks

I'm aware that this parody first line is quite well known (such as this Porridge clip for example). I'm just not sure that whether including it might lead to postings of the various alternative lyrics or non-notable song versions. It doesn't help that there are several parody versions - the "switched to ITV" version, the "Sunlight soap" version and so forth. I suppose with a bit of context it might be suitable - something like "The first line has invited a number of parody lyrics, almost universally beginning While Shepherds Watched Their Socks". Wrong tune/label.

The audio sample labeled "Cranbrook" isn't "Cranbrook" at all, but is instead "Jackson's Tune", as the sample info correctly states. I'm going to re-label it.

Has anyone got a freely-available "Cranbrook"? If not, I'll put one together some time soon, as more people are likely to be familiar with it than with "Jackson's Tune", and it can be re-used on the On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at page, which is where I was originally looking for it :) --Kay Dekker (talk) 14:17, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sherburne

What about the shape-note version called that they call "Sherburne" after the tune they sing it too? I know it's not as well known as the "standard" versions, but it is very well known among those who like Sacred Harp and shape-note singing. Caps in title

Should this be While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks? Seems consistent with others in Category:Christmas carols. An IP changed it in the lead and I reverted for consistency with title and infobox, but then I wondered. PamD 08:07, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
