Peer Review
[edit]Overall, this article is great. A lot of information is given here, and infoboxes are used to great effect. One of the only things I might suggest is adding more content to the Recreation and Tourism sections. This is where people who are thinking about visiting will look. I would suggest adding the most famous and/or interesting sightseeing destinations. What do travel websites suggest that people see in Weslaco? RumbleofThunder (talk) 23:02, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
pronounciation
[edit]I use wiki articles to pronounce names of towns at work and TX articles are usually good about having an IPA readout. I believe it's /'wES.l@.ko/ someone who knows how to add it please do so? thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.84.157.58 (talk) 19:24, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
Review
[edit]I can absolutely tell a lot of hard work went into the creation of this article, it is neutral and well written. I like your overall layout and use of info boxes. Moving forward I would just keep track of the happenings of the town, and update the article as needed.- eo — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eodhiambo (talk • contribs) 18:18, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

"Sandbagging capital of the world"
[edit]An edit from 2011 added this quote:
During World War II, sandbag production reached a peak in Weslaco, and the town declared itself the "sandbagging capital of the world".
While this text has been replicated in many external sources about Weslaco that use this article as a source, it is itself unsourced. I did a search but could not find any sources referencing sandbag production in Weslaco not related to recent hurricanes.
Because of this, I will be removing this text and notifying the original editor. Anyone who can find a reputable source (e.g. a contemporary article from the Mid-Valley Town Crier or any source from before 2011) should feel free to re-add this text with a citation.
