[edit]"Although it is clear that the Global Economic Environment is changing, posing a threat of job outsourcing to employment within Sweden, health care, education, and plentiful natural resources have ensured that Sweden has mantained high levels of employment, and moderate levels of economic growth. In this regard, Sweden is acclaimed by many to be a successful example of State Socialism."
High levels of employment!? I think that depends on whose figures you believe. Even the official state figures (which doesn't include those receiving benefits due to 'long-term illness/debilitating injury') show quite high levels of unemployment. Some independent sources have claimed almost 20% unemployment! This article is quite clearly another attempt to portray Sweden as an example of a utopian society brought about (naturally) by the wonders of social democracy. It fails to highlight in any particular detail the extremely damaging dependency culture that has developed - the fact that 2/3rds of the swedish working population depends on the other 1/3 for their livelihoods. 195.195.166.41 12:28, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Merge from Social security in Sweden
[edit]The line between social security and welfare is very blurry, and on per country basis, those topics would well be merged. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:07, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

- I'm not sure. In the U.S., Social Security is often considered to be a system of mandatory savings, whereas welfare in the U.S. is more like government-run charity. So there is potentially a useful distinction.Anythingyouwant (talk) 21:01, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- The line is not "blurry". The social security is one part of the welfare. Nothing blurry about it. This is made clear from this page. The welfare system in sweden is made up of health care, elderly care and social security. I'll remove the propsed merge tags. --OpenFuture (talk) 06:13, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
