Surely the entire topic of statistical weighting cannot be simply be ignored by saying it's more commonly applied to light etc. Really? I came here to understand statistical weighting not understand frequencies and 3d modeling.
Agreed looking for the market research use of weighting. --Bpatton (talk) 13:48, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
It would be nice if this page also discussed weighting by probability. Awaterl (talk) 07:07, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- The article definitely needs reorganized, and there should be a section on weighted probabilities.
- Also, I came to this article looking for https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Weighted_arithmetic_mean, but it's not in [see also] or [external links].
- So, the new outline would be:
- [introduction]
- 1 [section for weight probabilities]
- 2 [sections for weighting signals and waves]
- 2.1 Weighting and loudness
- 2.2 Weighting in audio measurement
- 2.3 Weighting and gamma rays
- 2.4 Weighting and television colour components
- 2.5 Weighting and UV factor derivation for sun exposure

Undue weight
[edit]For an article on weighting, it's kind of ironic that it suffers from undue attention -- i.e., weighting -- to some very specific uses of the term. It's a general concept in data analysis -- the times I hear it most is in regards to polling data -- zeroing in on some very technical uses does NOT help the general reader. Quite the opposite. --Calton | Talk 13:46, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
