I don't understand anyone questioning the notability of the subject matter. Erskine Caldwell is a notable writer by any criteria, this is an important collection of his early stories, so I think that having a page for the collection and separate pages for the stories (I already created some and intend to go on doing it) is an obvious thing to do, well fitting with the Wikipedia policies.
