GA on hold

[edit]

This article has been placed on hold. In general, the article is very well written and illustrated as well as being very through in summarisation of Morse's life and career. I feel there are a few changes or clarifications need to be completed before it can be passed for GA: -

  • {{fact}} tags have been placed in the article where a paragraph lacks references - and thus it is unclear what the source of the information is - or the statement is somewhat "contriversial" (other people may question it) so it is good to have a reference directly after it, even if it is the same one. See WP:References for more information.
  • All Morse's siblings were older than him except Caryl, who the article states is 14 years younger. Are you sure? I know it's possible but it does sound a little unusual to have that large a gap.
  • "Morse expected to retain certain committee memberships but was denied membership on the Labor Committee and others. He used a parliamentary procedure to force a vote of the entire Senate but lost his bid and was forced to accept the seat of Herbert Lehman on the Labor Committee." I am a bit confused by this. It sounds to me like Morse wanted to be on the Labour comittee, forced a vote to get on it, lost, but then took the seat of somebody else. Please clarrify?
  • Is it particulary significant that Ron Wyden now holds that particular seat? It makes it sound like he was somehow related to Morse and I've missed something somewhere.

This article will be watched for 7 days. If no significant improvements have been made in that time it maybe failed without notice. If you have any questions or comments please leave a message for me here or on my talk page. Good luck! Million_Moments (talk) 16:57, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for my slow response! I am taking a closer look now. Some of your questions can only be answered by the original sources, which other editors have, but I don't. I will try to get these all resolved ASAP. Thanks for the thorough review! -Pete (talk) 22:14, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Gah! Sorry I didn't notice any of this before now. I'm quickly able to confirm that Caryl was 14 years younger than Morse. Mason Drukman writes on page 4 of Wayne Morse: A Political Biography: "Until his sister Caryl was born when he was fourteen, Wayne was the youngest in his family." GA fail

[edit]

The main contributer of the article has stated that it may take some time for the changes specified above to me made, and for that reason I am failing the article for now. Once the changes have been made it can be re-nominated. Good luck! Million_Moments (talk) 16:07, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
