"lost" recordings
[edit]In Jazz Forum No.1, June 1946, Albert McCarthy reported that trumpeter Harry Cooper had reported that Ward Pinkett had recorded three sides with Willie Gant's band in the mid-1920s. In a subsequent issue, No.2 September 1946, McCarthy attempts to construct a discography for Pinkett, and guesses that the "mid-1920s" date is 1924. However, Pinkett did not play in Gant's band until May 1926, so I ignored McCarthy's date and reffed the entries to his first article. Willie Gant also reported that he cut some sides during the period he led Smalls band (Record Research 30, p. 4.). This may be tagged as OR, which is why I put this explanation on this talk page.
