Added pic now and removed template. Sorry have not a good external one, but may have better soon. The copy needs expanding for that (it's an interesting site), but this fills the pic gap for now I hope. Tarquin Binary 09:49, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rename?

[edit]

It's now know as the Wapping Project (this encompasses the restaurant Wapping Food). Unless the focus should be on the Power Station characteristics, suggest rename to Wapping Project, redirect Wapping Hydraulic Power Station. Split if sufficient info on both is available Paulbrock 03:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. I would suggest exactly the opposite. The restaurant is highly unlikely to ever warrant separate inclusion in WP, and I suspect the same is true of the arts centre, whereas the building is of some historical significance, and the bulk of the article currently relates to that. It is more likely that verifiable (paper) references can be found for the power station than its newer incarnation.
I would suggest creating a redirect for Wapping Project to here, and then splitting that off if it later becomes notable in itself and enough can be written about it.

The arts centre is fairly well-known and does get coverage in Broadsheets, often comparing it to the Tate Modern (i.e. exhibition space in old power station). More google hits for Wapping Project(12,300) than Wapping Hydaulic Power Station(2,240). I think both are notable, and if I get time will try to gather enough material for two articles!
As a Wapping resident, I'd say that the description in Shadwell Basin is corect, but Prospect of Whitby should be amended to read along the lines of 'Wapping project, formerly WHPS'. Anyway, happy to leave the name as is! Paulbrock 13:00, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
