Category:Zoos in Western Australia
[edit]@Stevewainwright1989: the fact that Wanneroo Lion Park has closed does not mean that it does not belong in Category:Zoos in Western Australia.
- It is in 3 other "zoo" categories (none of which are subcats of "... in WA"), so clearly still belongs in "Zoo" categories.
- It was unambiguously in WA.
- Articles about subjects that are a "former X ..." still belong in "Category:X ..." (in the absence of subcat:Former X ..." - otherwise categories like Category:Prime Ministers of Australia would be very boring.
- The majority of Category:Former zoos are also in a category "Zoos in placename".
Ergo, Wanneroo Lion Park belongs in Category:Zoos in Western Australia.
In the absence of a more specific "former zoos in WA", being in "zoos in WA" does not imply that it is still open, any more than Edmund Barton being in Category:Prime Ministers of Australia implies that he is still PM.
It might be appropriate to create a subcategory "former zoos in WA" and move the article into, but there probably aren't enough of them to justify the subcategory. Mitch Ames (talk) 13:14, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
