maniacal Hitler

I believe that tendentious writing like the one I just removed has no place in this encyclopedia, especially not when it is factually incorrect, like the remarks about certain death faced by the refugees. ESTO ES MENTIRA AMIGOS LOS GANADORES ESCRIBEN LA HISTORIA

"When asked by a maniacal Hitler to come to the aid of the Nazi high command holed up in Berlin during the last days of the war, he instead determined to use the remnants of his army to provide humanitarian relief to the thousands of refugees being bombed by the Russians. He told his army, "boys, we have to go in for one last mission." Estimates vary, but it is most likely the corridor his forces opened enabled 250,000 refugees to escape certain death at the hands of the out-for-revenge Russians."

The articles regarding German armies are titled in English (eg German 12th Army and the article is written in English - why the change to German language titles? It seems inconsistent with other English-language wikipedia. Has a standard been established? I can see the need to use German language titles in cases where clear translation is ambiguous (ie "Abteilung" can be detachment or battalion), but "Army" seems unambiguous and consistent with other English language articles dealing with foreign armies.Michael Dorosh 16:04, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I normally do this to help readers distinguish between German and opposing armies, since it very easily gets confusing. I believe the meaning is still clear, even to non-German speakers. Andreas 16:10, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Meaningful change

Changed from "Their task was to save people from the fighting...." to "Their task was to save people from Red Army atrocities." Boz 02:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Suspected FairUse rationale Violation

Article contains 2 copyright images, 1 of which uses FairUse tag. This is not possible.

Guderian Wenck color 002.jpg by Frentz

The 2nd image is likely edited and a montage from photo taken by Frentz in June 1944 eg.series. As Frentz it is copyright Ullstein Bild Deutschland. No valid FairUse rationale exists for this image. I do not believe it qualifies for a FairUse rationale because Walther Wenk.jpg‎ is included under a (possibly wrong) NoRightsReserved tag. Use of copyrighted images to illustrate an object (Wenck) when an image which is free or has a more favorable copyright status already exists is not permitted under FairUse.

All WW2 images from nazi regime are copyright and PD/"copyright unknown" status is not acceptable. 99.9% of color images from Hitler regime are Frentz. Legal action against wikipedia over copyrighted Frentz images has been threatened before resulting in all problem images being removed from wikipedia.[1]

Unless a suitable rationale, tag etc arises I will begin to list the Frentz image for deletion.

Reference for "Boy General" needed

I have not found any reference that would support the allegation, that he was known as the "Boy General" during or after WWII, neither German nor English. If there is no corroboration, that sentence should be cut.

Operation Solstice

I shifted the focus of this paragraph to the person of Wenck, mentioning his car accident (see Operation Solstice for the details).
