Shortly before 2000, Bruno founded Internet blogs and began publishing in print journals. His focus was on classical liberalism, theories of representation, and philosophies of truth and art. After retirement, he collected sixty of the blogs into A Head in Bad Times (2018), an eclectic mix dealing with cinema, theatre, academics, art, and politics.

Previously, in 2016, he had self-published Notes from the Gate, a memoir based on his 30-year correspondence with author Mavis Gallant, a close friend. Notes from the Gate attracted attention, but within a few years had been withdrawn from circulation, due to disputes over copyright.

Bruno'o latest poetry collections are First Declension: New and Collected Poems (2020) and Am I That Far? (2021).
