Walter may not be particularly keen in some one just popping in to the lab, taking his photo, and then splashing it on wikipedia. Wadhamite (talk) 18:34, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Bodmer and the Cornish
[edit]Bodmer's research
[edit]This statement is untrue and misleading and should be clarified or removed; A study by the Wellcome Trust, led by Sir Walter Bodmer and published on Channel 4's Faces of Britain in April 2007, showed that the Cornish people have a particular variant of the Melanocortin 1 receptor gene, identifying them as Celts more closely related to the Welsh than to the English.[40]
It did no such thing. In the program referrenced it is noted that people from Devon tested came out with a higher frequency of the genes than the Cornish, at 23%, as opposed to 16% for the Cornish tested, for the "ginger genes" (R151C and R160W)Also everyone has the MC1R gene. So are we now to consider people from Devon more "Cetic" than the Cornish?
"Additionally, the results showed that the Cornish people have the MC1R gene which makes them a true Celtic race more closely related to the Welsh, Irish, and Bretons than to their English neighbours"
I have now removed the replaced, but still untrue, section, please could someone fix my coding misshap? Serpren (talk) 04:17, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
