Splitting to Disney logo
[edit]Opening a discussion for discussing the split regarding the Disney logo article. IMHO the logo section in this article would be WP:UNDUE weight and therefor there should be a dedicated article about the logo, which also describes the logo of other Disney ventures. Also, the fact that it has been tagged with a template for indiscriminate information indicated that a split is not a bad idea. PhotographyEdits (talk) 21:59, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
PG-13 films section
[edit]Currently, there is a section regarding PG-13 rated films released by Walt Disney Pictures. I personally do not see the significance of including this as a featured section and so I removed it, only for it to have been restored again by another user. Instead, I have tagged the section and decided to open up a discussion so we can openly talk about inclusion. The only important detail I see in all of it is that Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was the first film released by Walt Disney Pictures to receive a PG-13 rating, which is important enough to mention as it was widely reported upon release. Everything else is just trivial and irrelevant. Walt Disney Pictures has now released even more PG-13 films since the first Pirates with greater frequency, which diminishes the unique benchmark set by the first Pirates film. It is now just as irrelevant as any of the other film studios that release PG-13 films. Why does this studio need a featured list that will only keep growing in time? If anything, a mention of how the studio has never released an R-rated film is more befitting. Also, MPA ratings are used only in the United States and Canada, as international territories use completely different content rating systems and yet those are not mentioned here. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 17:02, 14 December 2021 (UTC)

I think we should remove it, but like you said, keep a mention for how PotC:TCotBP was the first to receive the rating. It would be different if Disney rarely did PG-13 films under the Walt Disney Pictures brand, but like you said, they are actually quite common nowadays. They were only on the page previously because back then, the section reflected the time, however this has changed since, and over time, it’s not uncommon to see Disney come out with a PG-13 release, especially those that are live-action, meaning that the section isn’t reflecting anything special and has ultimately become unnecessary. SlySabre (talk) 19:25, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
- I agree with that. I think we should definitely keep the mention of how the first Pirates of the Caribbean film was the first WDP film to receive the rating and perhaps another line describing how WDP began to release more PG-13 films as a result of the success and lack of controversy from Pirates. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 19:35, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
@SlySabre:, I have to disagree with you. You see, out of all the 485 or so films Walt Disney Pictures has made in its entire existence, only 15 are PG-13. It would be different if PG-13 movies were common, but as of now, they're not. ZX2006XZ (talk) 20:14, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
I see where your coming from, but this does not only have to be only about the entire library but we can also rather only look at what is recent, which shows that PG-13 films have became common in the past decade alone. If we compare since the 1950s then yes, but if you look at what’s recently happening, then no. If you look at all of the films released since the first Pirates of the Caribbean then it’s not hard to realize the increase and the availability of PG-13 movies is becoming increasingly more common. SlySabre (talk) 22:00, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
Is it, though?
2003 2006 2007 2010 2011 2012 2013 2016 2017 2020 2021
Those are the years in which Walt Disney Pictures has release one or more PG-13 films. So, they really aren't that common as you probably think. ZX2006XZ (talk) 00:53, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
There were two PG-13 films in 2020 and 2021. The Disney remakes, such as Mulan and Cruella, are PG-13. If it’s gotten to the point where the newer remakes are being aimed at an older audience, which has already became the norm for the new decade, then you know that it really isn’t anything special anymore. SlySabre (talk) 13:24, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
I said one or more. 2010, 2013, 2020, and 2021 are years in which more than one PG-13 film was released by Walt Disney Pictures.ZX2006XZ (talk) 13:32, 15 December 2021 (UTC) ZX2006XZ (talk) 13:32, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Again, I see where your coming from, but those four years compared to the 1950s definitely shows an increase. Additionally, we are getting more than two PG-13 movies a year for two years in a row. I would say that it looks like this has became a norm and will continue to be a reoccurring pattern throughout the future. Like Jedi said though, other studios don’t have a section created just for the rarity of this instance, so I don’t really think WDP needs one either. SlySabre (talk) 18:43, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
- @SlySabre:, I see where you're coming from, but the reason why other studios don't have a PG-13 section is because most of their films are PG-13 and/or R (e.g., Paramount Pictures). ZX2006XZ (talk) 01:12, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- @ZX2006XZ, by that logic, then all those other film studios should have similar sections featuring lists of G-rated or PG-rated films on their respective articles if it's so few for them. But they don't because it's not relevant. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 17:35, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
