Issues with sourcing
[edit]There are some major issues with sourcing:
- The claim of him being the youngest director in the UK to have made a feature film is based on a primary source, a post he wrote about himself. This sort of claim is really dubious since a lot of people make this claim when it comes to films. So much so that it's kind of a typical marketing thing. This needs much better sourcing to back up claims, even then it's best to say that he's being billed as, as this would take into consideration that there might be others who could claim the title.
- The claim about him being the youngest person to receive a release deal like he did wasn't backed up by the given source. That's also a dubious claim as well, since it doesn't take into account other, younger directors such as Love You Baba and the films by Emily Hagins. It also read like marketing prose, particularly with the list of where you can buy/rent the film.
- The Culture Trip link is likely unreliable, as the site offers the ability for people to purchase articles and other marketing type content. I'm not saying that the review in question was purchased, but the fact that you can puts the reliability of this in serious question.
I'll post others as I see them. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 10:46, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- The Fan Carpet looks to be a press release or very heavily based on one. It also sells marketing services per this page, so its reliability is in question as well. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 10:55, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- A lot of these sources are primary as well. Primary sources can be used, but they should not be used to back up major claims - the claim of being the youngest is something that shouldn't be included unless we phrase it a specific way such as "bills himself as" or "has stated that he is". This puts the emphasis on the director making the claim, rather than stating it as if it's absolute fact. I'm also mildly concerned that there may be some undisclosed paid editing with these as well, given the scope of the editor's articles.
