Longest Running Episodic TV Show

How can this be true? What is it based on? If you visit the Coronation Street wiki page you will see that it has over 7000 episodes, therefore isn't that the longest running? 80.229.169.189 (talk) 21:58, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Hell, even in wrestling, it's way behind WCW Saturday Night in its various incarnations. WWE says it, but that doesn't make it true. --Bix (talk) 01:49, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Well if you guys would check your facts and not just list things like this you would know Monday Night RAW is the longest running WEEKLY Episodic Television Show in History. Because it has had more episodes every week without ever taking a hiatus since the moment it 1st came on the air on January 11th, 1993.--Nascar king 22:29, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Canadian clarification

The Score doesn't air Raw live but it's not an hour later anymore. They show a 15 minute pre-show when Raw is going live in the States at 7PM to allow them to censor any cuss words and/or "wardrobe malfunctions" by airing on a fifteen minute delay! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.152.156.228 (talk) 06:16, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

The former is the reason why the FCC mandated a 7-second delay before any and all live broadcasts (cf. Bleep censor). CJ Miller. (That's my name.Don't wear it out.) 03:00, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Not Involving in Talent Exchange

Why the RAW Brand not involved in the talent brand exchange with ECW & Smackdown?68.188.126.78 (talk) 19:15, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

ECW airs live on Tuesday. Smackdown tapes their show on Tuesday after ECW and then airs it on Friday night. So the two brands travel together and tape at the same arena each week. Raw airs live on Monday from a different arena. If all three brands were all over, there would be a lot of extra plane travel for everyone and no one would be happy. Please ask on a message board next time, this is not a forum. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 20:17, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

The Highlight Reel returns

can someone please update this to mention the return of "Y2J" Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel. it returns tonight on Raw with Jeff Hardy. and yes, WWE.com has mentioned it so it's confirmed. --Boutitbenza 69 9 (talk) 00:20, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

How Do you Change the Page Name

The Show name is WWE Monday Night Raw not WWE Raw but when I tried to edit it I couldn't find it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KBD5196 (talkcontribs) 21:14, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

No, the name is just "WWE Raw". It hasn't been "Monday Night Raw" in over 10 years. MNR is nothing more than an unofficial name now (like how Mike Tenay sometimes says "Thursday Night iMPACT"). TJ Spyke 21:27, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

there was a time when the show went by Thursday Raw Thursday. So RAW would be a better title with a subheading based on the current showtime. HHH beat Rocky Maivia for the IC title on the Thursday night show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.143.187.108 (talk) 09:09, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Jim Cornette

I'm fairly certain Cornette commentated on Raw in the last part on 1997.75.60.191.136 (talk) 08:38, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

He did. I am not certain if he was a full commentator or part-time, of the exact dates. TJ Spyke 19:29, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

The only reason I know for certain is because he was the commentator for the Stone Cold segment when he threw The Rock's belt from a bridge. 75.60.191.136 (talk) 03:22, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Michael Cole

Hi guys

I'm almost certain that JR left Raw's commentary team for an extended period around 1999 - when he was suffering badly with his illness and Michael Cole took over - this can be verified as he was the comm with Lawler on the Royal Rumble 1999, St. Valentines Day Massacre '99 and the majority of WM 15, before JR made his return - can this be added to the commentary section on Raw? 87.80.220.44 (talk) 03:17, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Move to WWE Monday Night Raw? WWE refers to it as that. SAVIOR_SELF.777 23:22, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Speedy oppose: Never to they refer to it as that, it's always Raw. -- iMatthew T.C. 18:17, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
The logo sometimes has that in it. Also, I've heard them refer to it as that numerous times. Although they hven't refered to it as that lately, so I think I see what you're getting at. But, WWE hardly includes the Friday Night on SmackDown! now, but it's still named with Friday Night on it. Also, I've had Time Warner Cable, Dish Network, DirecTV, and TV Guide, and it always says "Monday Night" on it. That's why I proposed the move. Damn, I type to much on talk pages, don't I? Hmmm, didn't know that was there. Eh, I think I should consider this resolved.

SRX — Hold on ... is "Master King" asking a forum question (i.e., "Could an editor tell me what happens at a live show so I can decide whether to go?") or is he asking a question he believes the article should answer (i.e., should the article include information about what people attending a live/television taping of RAW see at the live show)? If the former is true, you're correct, this is not a forum; if it is the latter, an editor should go through and see whether the article has that information and, if it is not included, find sources that will include information about what is seen at live wrestling shows. [[Briguy52748 (talk) 12:27, 29 July 2008 (UTC)]]

Now only two hours?

Tonight's show ended at 11:00, and in the Comcast channel listings, it was listed as ending at 11:00. So, apparently, it didn't just end earlier than it was supposed too. Also, on Comcast, it is listed as being a two hour show the next two weeks, instead of 2 hours and 5 minutes. Apparently the show has been truncated by 5 minutes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bmf 51 (talkcontribs) 03:07, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Eddie Guerrero Tribute

Not sure if this is notable, but should it be mentioned that the Eddie Guerrero tribute was pulled by WWE because of numerous appearances by Chris Benoit? SAVIOR_SELF.777 04:26, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

What tribute? Not counting WWE 24/7 (which I can't get since Time Warner Cable doesn't carry it), WWE never reairs their old TV shows. So the Eddie Guerreo tribute shows only aired 1 time (back when he died in November 2005). TJ Spyke 17:03, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Um, there's been there for a LONG time: WWE Raw#Special episodes. TJ Spyke 21:56, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

On this subject, were Steph & Shane or currently Stephanie McMahon ever mentioned on screen as GMs? I think they assume control by way of being owners of the company and thus they aren't general managers in the same sense. Adding 'de facto' to Steph&Shane kinda says even more that they were never really general managers. It is possible for the show to run without one, Raw did it for 8 years prior to Flair. Tony2Times (talk) 14:10, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, they did have "Commissioners". A more apt example would be the ECW brand after Paul Heyman left and before Armando Estrada was made GM. TJ Spyke 16:52, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

flair was in charge of raw before the title of general manager was created. he doesn't count as a GM so he should eitehr be removed from that section and put into his own, or the GM section should be renamed into something a little more general —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.186.223.196 (talk) 18:35, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Kiss Cam again

There needs to be some changes to this "recurring segment." First of all, it's still going on today at the RAW tapings in a non-televised format, and needs to be reflected as such. Second, while Maria was the primary host, others have hosted it as well. I've personally been in attendence when Candice Michelle, Mickie James, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan have hosted it. Third, since it has been a primarly non-televised segment (or web-exclusive if you will, Unlimted I think it was called), I don't believe it should be there at all. You can request protection at WP:RFP, but it probably won't happen since it's technically not vandalism (just very annoying). TJ Spyke 01:50, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I disagree with the need to lock the page; if we patrol it and take out any offending statements (i.e., those that violate WP policies), that should suffice. I think the thing to remember is that Donald Trump is currently making a series of appearances on WWE Raw, and that his "ownership" of the franchise is fictional (i.e., a storyline, or kayfabe); if that is made clear, then we should be fine. However, this is where I wish there were some mainstream sources — in addition to the wrestling-related sources that have been deemed reliable — to back this all up. However, I admit it may be difficult to find such non-wrestling reliable sources other than entertainment magazines; even two years ago, with the "McMahon is dead" storyline, I recall being able to find outside media sources (surprisingly, rather easily) which talked about the stunt explosions and that it was intended as part of the story; that seemed to put to rest any inaccurate edits that were being made at that time. Also, I think the wording of the statements related to Trump should be at least reviewed; I know if I were writing it, I'd want it to be as exact and factual as possible (i.e., explain that this is just a storyline). [[Briguy52748 (talk) 12:38, 16 June 2009 (UTC)]]

P.S. TJ Spyke has some good advice — it could be semi-protected, at least. I wouldn't be against that. Full-fledged locking is not needed, however. [[Briguy52748 (talk) 12:39, 16 June 2009 (UTC)]]
It is semi-protected. Darrenhusted (talk) 12:47, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

No Commercials

Since next week's Raw will be Commercial Free, would it be handy to note this within Special Episodes? Afkatk (talk) 02:03, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, too early to tell IMO. If the rest of the show is normal, I would think no. TJ Spyke 02:08, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Well considering this is the first and only edition of Raw which has no commercials I would think it deserves a mention as a special episode. Afkatk (talk) 02:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I dont agree with alot of people but Afkatk has a point. Donald Trump did announce that it would be 100% commercial free. source is www.wwe.com.Jonathanmbarnes (talk) 02:34, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Legal arguments aside (that is, because Trump is promoting the show as such, now they may be legally obligated to do so), I think that we should wait until after the show actually airs (per WP:CRYSTAL) before someone actually goes in to make a statement about the show being "commercial free," even though Trump did make the announcement. And before it comes up, if the June 22 "RAW" isn't "commercial free" and there are reliable sources pointing this out, then we add it; otherwise, no. [[Briguy52748 (talk) 16:14, 16 June 2009 (UTC)]]
I think we can confirm its a Commercial Free Raw as per USA Network's site, [2] "LIVE COMMERCIAL-FREE RAW MONDAY JUNE 22 AT 9/8C" and the official Press Release [3] "The episode will run commercial-free on USA Network at 9:00 PM ET/8:00 PM CT. ". Afkatk (talk) 20:05, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

That seems like cruft since the list will just grow every week. It's already mentioned that each week will have a guest host. TJ Spyke 04:15, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Is Raw indeed trademarked as "RAW"?

I think that the "trademarked as RAW" line might be a leftover from a while back before WWE transitioned away from writing the name of the show in all caps. The only source we have for this is a news release where it's written in all caps, but that seems like an OR problem, since the source makes no reference to trademarking. I'm a bit concerned that language like this could give the incorrect impression that WWE actually prefers "RAW", which seems like a difficult proposition to support in light of the consistent use of "Raw" on their main site. Croctotheface (talk) 07:11, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

[4] [5]--Truco 503 15:21, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Both of those have the same issue that the source that's in the article has. Neither says that it's trademarked as "RAW" or even says anything close to that from what I can see, so the line in the article is really looking like original research. We could just change the text to something like "sometimes stylized as RAW" and avoid the issue. Croctotheface (talk) 01:04, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Technically all trademarks are capitalized (go to the USPTO website and every trademark is completely capitalized).
I agree with it being "stylized" as RAW, so I did the necessary changes.--Truco 503 02:05, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Just to be clear, we also should not say "which is stylized by WWE" without some kind of qualifier, as they don't really use "RAW" all that often either. For instance, they don't use it at the Raw website: http://www.wwe.com/shows/raw , which sort of seems like an important place to look for which style they use. Yes, they use it in corporate documents and press releases, hence the "sometimes" rather than implicit always. I also don't think we should include "by WWE" because that implies that they are the only entity that ever uses all caps. Croctotheface (talk) 03:51, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

I would beg to differ they clearly stylize it in their logo [6]. AfroGold - Afkatk 06:55, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

RAW - SMAKDOWN

Hi. I have read through many wrestling articles on Wikipedia to help me understand the differences and relationships between RAW and Smackdown. I am still as confused as ever. How do titles change between programs etc. How do wrestlers from different programs fight each other? Are both shows of an equal standing (same league)? No, it was announced on www.ewrestlingnews.com that Raw's new theme song is now 'Burn It To The Ground' by Nickleback- Steven DeLauder, WWE Raw expert —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.48.212.63 (talk) 00:17, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

"Raw expert", what makes him a "Raw expert"? Anybody can call themselves an expert. Why should I believe some nobody at a unreliable rumor site? Here are the facts: the only CONFIRMED info (as reported by RELIABLE sites) is that Todd Grisham announced on Raw this week that they were filming the crow for a new intro. That's it. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources. TJ Spyke 00:27, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Well maybe if you pull your head out of your ass you would know that that webstie is up to date with ALL Wrestling stoires, instead of being a pompous ass, how about you do the reasearch yourself jackass Steven DeLauder, WWE Raw Expert —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.48.212.63 (talk) 20:45, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Haha, come back when you get to middle school. Maybe you will have some maturity by then. TJ Spyke 20:55, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

See, you wait till tomorrow when Raw comes on and youll feel like a total asshole for not changin it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.48.212.63 (talkcontribs)

1 More Hour Before Raw Comes On I can't wait to see who's right iCEMAN 247 —Preceding undated comment added 01:02, 3 November 2009 (UTC).

Please don't feed the troll by trying to stir up shit. I never said Raw won't get a new theme, I just said there was no reliable source for it. TJ Spyke 01:18, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

hmm looks like Nothing has changed also should I erase this Section? iCEMAN 247 —Preceding undated comment added 02:11, 3 November 2009 (UTC).

I have an official reliable source from the WWE Website, that the new theme: Nickelback's "Burn It To The Ground" is coming November 16, 2009. http://www.wwe.com/subscriptions/wwetunes/3242484/nickelbackrawtheme JamieBrighty (talk) 21:48, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Ok well till the 16th roll's around the theme stays the same just have to wait.--Dcheagle (talk) 21:52, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Well it can't be More real than coming from WWE's mouth, Still it does not need to be changed in-til it has debuted live on Air Kreyg Talk

Did the statge entrance last Monday, Nobember 16, 2009 look a little different?

I saw that the stage entrance last Monday, November 16, 2009 looked a little different as in smaller and the security wall went right up to the stage entrance. Is this perminate or just for last Monday, November 16, 2009 and shoud this be added to the article? Gibsonj338 (talk) 15:42, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Stage alterations aren't notable IMHO. It's about as trivial as the colors of the ring ropes at PPV's. ArcAngel (talk) 17:37, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

No its not perminate just for show at square garden--Dcheagle (talk) 19:20, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Dcheagle is right, they only altered it because MSG is an extremely small arena. It's like how when SmackDown/ECW was in my hometown (Rochester) last month, they didn't have the ramp because there wasn't enough space (they did the same thing when Raw came here in 2007). They make alterations like this when the arena is too small to have the normal setup. TJ Spyke 20:14, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
I remember one time the WWE went to MSG and had the regular setup. Why this setup? Is it because the WWE were making it like something is going to happen on that day's show that is going to be huge and people will remember it like at some other times events happened at MSG that people do remember? WWE RAW

Now, I don't understand why people on this website has to state the obvious for others to understand. You see, people, RAW is the proper name for the show because, as stated by KURT ANGLE in WWE SMACKDOWN VS RAW 2007 SEASON MODE (by a RAW superstar) that R-A-W is the initials for "Real, Athletic, Wrestling!" So therefore, this page should be called RAW and I am sick and tired of seeing some wannabe "admins" tryin' to take control around here. It's just not right!!!!! I bet most of these "admins" don't even know the world of professional wrestling so why can't you lot allow the ones WHO DO KNOW ABOUT PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING and stop butting in every-damn-thing!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crazy Benoit (talkcontribs) 09:34, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

XD... I laugh at you... --UnquestionableTruth-- 09:49, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm going to go ahead and assume that user is being serious. WWE RAW violates WP:CAPS. So no. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 16:47, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Crazy Benoit, even WWE doesn't write it as "RAW" anymore, they just use "Raw". Even when they did capitalize it, it never officially stood for anything. A video game storyline is not exactly a reliable source either. If WWE said "RAW" stood, that would make it OK (but wouldn't matter anyways because they no longer capitalize it). TJ Spyke 21:00, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Crazy Benoit, I find it funny to laugh at your niavity. Kurt Angle says RAW stands for Real Athletic Wrestling in STORYLINE in a GAME to brag about being a true athelete. He is trying to put a point that he is better than any other wrestler, it is part of the storyline I assume. Raw or RAW does not stand for anything, just like Smackdown doesn't. They are words and I assume Raw is being used in a metaphor, but they are not initials. I'm still laughing at you having the audacity to say you know about wrestling yet you still believe everything they do and/or say is real. WOW :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.20.126.208 (talk) 17:49, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Notable Raw Episodes

Some more notable episodes should be added such as September 17 2001. --Whitmore 8621 (talk) 04:43, 13 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

The special episodes already are. The September 17, 2001 episode was just a normal Raw. TJ Spyke 20:55, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
What about the episode from March 10th 1997 when Monday night Raw became Raw is War. September 17th 2001 Was when Raw is War was renamed Raw because of the September 11 Attacks.

--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 05:02, 18 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

They don't count.--Yugiohmike2001 (talk) 05:05, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Ok thats fine but they were notable in terms of the shows popularity.--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 09:26, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621

How about placing something about Raw 4/19/10 having mostly Smackdown stars compiting due to that volcano in Europe with many WWE stars stuck there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talkcontribs) 22:15, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Raw-Wikipedia-true facts

  • Some of the information on this page is not all that accurate such as the WWF raw logo. It says it was used from September 2001 to April 2002. They retired the logo at the beggining of the brand extension.--Whitmore 8621 (talk) 07:46, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Whitmore 8621
  • The March 25th 2002 episode of Raw, was the last one to use the stage and theme song from the Attitude Era. The Raw is war logo and name were retired in September/October 2001.
