[edit]The word "Internet" is properly capitalized. For reference, see the Wikipedia article: Internet. I made this correction, but VerruckteDan has reverted it. Any particular reason?
Also, I had changed Broadway Street in the article to Broadway Avenue. Thought that was the proper name, but VerruckteDan reverted that one, too. Checked a few maps and turns out he's right. Thanks for catching that one, but why the Internet/internet reversion? Dwtno 01:01, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- My mistake, I intended to only change Broadway, but must have done it too quickly. VerruckteDan 04:54, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
WTUL's history waiting to be written according to Wikipedia standards
[edit]As with many college radio station articles in Wikipedia, WTUL's lacks the ctations needed to satisfy WP:VER. Most station histories, unfortunately, are based on what's posted on the station's or college's website. Accurate or not, this does not conform with VER because these accounts come from primary sources, the horse's mouth, so to speak. Besides not being reliable, usually they're far too subjective. And while most stations are notable—interesting endeavors worthy of coverage—only rarely do other forms of media bother to pay attention to them. Or if they did, it's extremely difficult to dig them up, since so many local newspapers, magazines, and such have folded, leaving not a trace behind.
I mention all this because WTUL is an exception. Instead of the usual works of puffery I've found in visiting a couple hundred college station websites, the Tulane station has an archive posted with press clippings going back to its very first year, 1959, and then documenting just about every significant event that's occurred since. Amazing. I'll return to this when I wrap up a current project, but if anyone wants some sources for updating the WTUL article here's the address: https://www.wtulneworleans.com/15-wtul-history/350-the-history-of-wtul?highlight=WyJoaXN0b3J5Il0=.
