Article is a mess
[edit]This thing is a mess. It focuses too much on that lawsuit, and in other places, is very confusing, and chock full of unverified facts. I say make the lawsuit just a tiny blurb in the history section, and make the article less bloated. -Whomp 15:58, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
I agree. I tried to get rid of the lawsuit and was told I was editing it too much. I was able to get rid of more less than kind things that were said about Dick Florea's wife who btw is dying from Alzhiemers right now. Having worked at the place I can tell you that the lawsuit was just a small blip on the map and no really cared about it, but I guess it was imporatant enough to someone. There were also many opinions given in the piece as well. Oh well, a long way to say I agree.--Josephblowhard 03:40, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
ClairSmut began this page inserting facts about his brief employment at WKJG. Really not sometning most care about. I agree about the KITCO thing, really not something that is station history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.246.144.226 (talk • contribs)
ClairSmut has never worked for WKJG, nor for anyone else in the broadcast industry, for that matter. One basic rule of Wikipedia is "no original research"; nothing I put in there is my personal experience. The article was nothing but a stub, and I pulled together what I could find. Lawsuits are well-documented, and they exist because people disagree as to the facts in a matter that people care about, so it got included. Yes, it should be a minor part of the article, but you do that by adding meat, not by reducing the article to a stub by people who got fired. I'm sorry to learn that about Mrs. Florea, but in any case, there was nothing unkind said about her; rather, her quote pointed out that not everyone agreed with Gates' emphasis on sports, almost to the exclusion of everything else. ClairSmutt 13:17, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, come on. The lawsuit should not have to take up the whole dang article. Not only should it not be OR, it should be shortened and verified. -Whomp 21:00, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
The fact is that you cannot support quotes from people and you have backrounds that are incorrect. You had Ann Colone working at WKJG when she never set foot in the builiding. I would think that people who worked there and knew the facts about the station have a much better backround then you to add history. Right now it is just a mess. I think like the first posters that it should be rewritten and Mr. Samhot should have no input. WOWO Historian
Now that I have some more time off, expect a rewrite within the next couple of days. -Whomp 01:44, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Scratch that, I've been busy lately. It should come soon, however. -Whomp 20:13, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Indiana's News Center
[edit]I tried giving Indiana's NewsCenter it's own entry instead of being redirected to WISE-TV. I think it's incompetent that it was set up that way. WISE-TV is part of Indiana's News Center. Indiana's NewsCenter is not part of WISE-TV. It just looks awful. --Dilk85
- Check the article naming policy. WISE-TV is Indiana's NewsCenter. It's justi WPTA's newsteam, plus Linda Jackson, not some regional news organization... jeez. --AlexDW 14:19, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Indiana's Newscenter is just a naming game used by the current ownership to hide the fact that there is no news orginization at WISE TV. Don't make it bigger then it is. As a matter of fact, the ENTIRE INC newsroom combined is smalled by about 10 bodies then it's only remaining competitor WANE TV. WOWO Historian
Split this to Indiana's NewsCenter
[edit]I agree. There should be an article for "Indiana's NewsCenter" instead of redirecting it to WISE-TV. There is also one for "Northland's NewsCenter" in Duluth. Set it up the same as that. Just remember it is WPTA, WISE, Fort Wayne's CW (WBFW), My TV Fort Wayne, and WeatherPlus. It is not to be confused with The Indiana State News Center and Discssuion. (Aeverine Frathleen Nieves 02:59, 9 July 2007 (UTC))
UPDATE: I have just created the Indiana's NewsCenter article. (Aeverine Frathleen Nieves 17:51, 21 July 2007 (UTC))
Mold?
[edit]Does anyone care that the old WISE-TV studios may or may not have been condemned? --AlexDW 14:19, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I suspect it's either one or the other, isn't it? Sure, people care - but can you cite a reliable source that other editors can verify? It's not sufficient that you merely know something to be true; Wikipedia policy prohibits original research, and warns against the telephone game. ClairSamoht 15:20, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it wasn't verifiable, and didn't seem particularly relevant, so I removed it. --AlexDW 15:58, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Just great coming from two folks who have now local connection! That building and tower is where Fort Wayne television began. It is a historic site for that reason alone. It also points to the current lack of broadcasting 'know how' by it's current owners. WOWO Historian
- As I said before, Sure, people care. And people care about Wikipedia, too. If you want it on the page, follow the Wikipedia rules. If Wikipedia policy allowed unverified gossip to stand, you'd be very unhappy about what some people would post. ClairSamoht 20:25, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, personally, I don't "want" it on the page — I don't see how mold in a former (presumably abandoned) studio is relevant at all to an encyclopedic article about a television station. If someone adds it again (without referencing an acutal source), I'll remove it, again. --AlexDW 11:58, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Granite Default
[edit]An edit was made saying that Granite had defaulted on its June 1st 2006 payment. This is not true. Actually, they were able to make the payment through a "Senior credit facility". This was kind of a short term loan that made the June payment. But they have to pay it back short term as well. This is where the problem lies right now. They thought with the sale of the San Franscisco station they would pay the short term loan. In any case, as part of an agreement with their creditors they have gone into a restructing agreement which has be done by the end of August. It's complicated but if you go into their stock quotes and look at all the newswire and disclosures you can figure it out. http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/060703/nym043.html?.v=61The preceding anonymous comment was actually made by Josephblowhard on 06:01, 23 August 2006
In the SEC filing, it says in Part II, Item 3,
“ | Item 3. Defaults Upon Senior Securities
An interest payment of $19,744,000 on the Company’s 9 3/4 % Senior Secured Notes (the “Notes”) was due on June 1, 2006. Since payment was not made within 30 days after June 30, 2006, an “Event of Default” under Indenture governing the Notes had occurred. On July 5, 2006, the Company made the interest payment due on June 1, 2006, thereby curing the Event of Default. |
” |
Which part of "Default... had occurred" are you having trouble understanding? If you bother to go to Edgar and read the SEC filing (It's the 10-Q for June 30, 2006), you can figure it out. ClairSamoht 14:27, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Notable WKJG/WISE Alumni
[edit]Since WISE and WPTA have merged as "Indiana's News Center," how should we do "Notable WKJG/WISE Alumni"
Should we merge it all into one article or split it into as follows:
- Prior to Granite Broadcasting's Acquisition
- Post Granite Acquisition
There is also one at WPTA atricle (Aeverine Frathleen Nieves 17:31, 10 February 2007 (UTC)) Ava Nieves of INNCD News--Marion, IN (Aeverine Frathleen Nieves 17:31, 10 February 2007 (UTC))
None of them are notable enough to have an actual entry. Perhaps removing the section would be appropriate. Gruber76 01:38, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Wise dt2.jpg
[edit]Image:Wise dt2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:Indiana news center.jpg
[edit]The image Image:Indiana news center.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material
[edit]Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to a list of former employees in articles. Including this type of material in articles does not abide by current consensus and its inclusion is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:
- WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
- As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
- WP:NLIST tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
- Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.
If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). If a preexisting article is already in the encyclopedia for the person you want to add to a list, it's generally regarded as sufficient to support their inclusion in list material in another article. 70.48.216.22 (talk) 00:57, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
Logos
[edit]Hello. Could anyone be able to upload the logo(s) for this station? Thanks! Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 12:52, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
