Did the 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' Novel Predict Transparent Aluminium (Aluminium Oxynitride)?

In the novel adaptation of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, published in 1961, it is mentioned that the windows of the Seaview submarine are made of a transparent metal.
