Origin of the term "vocabularyclept"?

[edit]

The article should explain the meaning and origin of "vocabularyclept", which are not obvious. J. D. Crutchfield | Talk 20:05, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That might be a bit difficult without getting into speculation. I'm not aware that Bergerson ever gave an etymology for the word—are you? It sems it might be a portmanteau of "vocabulary" and "yclept" (meaning "called"). Another possibility, which fits better semantically but more poorly orthographically, is that it's a compound of "vocabulary" and "klepto-" (meaning "theft"). Or knowing Bergerson, he might have meant to evoke both etymologies. —Psychonaut (talk) 23:21, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
