References

[edit]

I have just come across a very nice article on Maistora (by googling of course). It is of scholarly status and hence can be the seed article for the References section which I hope to begin now.

Valentina Assenova, "Vladimir Dimitrov-Maistora’s Bulgarian Madonna: Creed, Criticism, Propaganda", University of Pennsylvania, April 2006. http://repository.upenn.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1001&context=uhf_2006 Retrieved 2008-12-06

Done! Now the next task is to write an appropriate text that fits the Wikipedia article and is supported by this paper.--Михал Орела (talk) 18:56, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am now finding that the information provided by the Kyustendil Art Gallery is worth adding. I am making the assumption that what is there provided is accurate. Other sources are still needed for independent confirmation. I have visited the Gallery twice and have met the Director several times. Hence, the gallery web site is moved to the Reference section.--Михал Орела (talk) 11:32, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

[edit]

A good way in which to cite the references is to make a (foot)note for the appropriate text. Hence I introduce a section on Notes.--Михал Орела (talk) 19:02, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Social engagement

[edit]

The first note of importance (to fill in details of Maistora's life) is the factness of his joining the Communist Party in 1946. Such historical detail is necessary to understand a large amount of the drawings and paintings that he made during that period. However, one must treat Maistora with the respect due. Instead of a section called Politics, I propose Social engagement. --Михал Орела (talk) 19:10, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In a sense, every artist has an impact on the local social life; this then broadens out to the wider region, whether Nation state, or ... Until there is a better way to locate the artist's work in time (and space) I will continue to use the list format. --Михал Орела (talk) 11:01, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

I have just discovered a transcription "error" in Assenova's paper. Instead of her "Shishkovzi" we ought to write "Shishkovtsi" (Bulgarian: Шишковци); need to say something about the location of Shishkovtsi
