Request to move page

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: page moved. Vegaswikian (talk) 05:31, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vizada GroupVizada – The company is known as Vizada and not Vizada Group. Though there's a redirect from Vizada to Vizada Group, on the principle of least astonishment I'd like the page move to Vizada with a redirect from Vizada Group. Thanks a lot for your help. New request to move page?

[edit]

VizadaMarlink – –The company is now known as Marlink. The Vizada brand name has been retired and the Vizada result should link to a new page called Marlink. Unfortunately, I don't know how to implement this. https://marlink.com/ --Matttwd (talk) 15:57, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, on reflection, one could leave the Vizada company page in place as a record of its historic activities and show it as a defunct company? Matttwd (talk) 16:35, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Right, it seems that Marlink is presently more significant topic, but it should not have to be as easy as just article renaming. —Mykhal (talk) 08:01, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Neutralizing and making historical

[edit]

I took a stab at the update that a) reduces advertising tone, and b) makes historical and distinct from Marlink. Many of the original sources are broken. I've tried to find replacement links where possible.

Importantly, I'm taking the stance that the relevant time period for the majority of this article is 2007-2011. The history before 2007 is the histories of Telenor and France Telecom, which are already covered on Wikipedia. Then EADS/Astrium acquires the firm in 2011, which new firms also already have their own wiki pages. That said, it may be that the 2007 divested sub-firms do have notable additional histories. Unfortunately this article's statements to that effect have already been flagged for lack of source:

( 1997: Creation of Taide Network (now Vizada Networks) in Holmestrand, Norway, from an academic project initiated at universities in Oslo, Norway, and Vilnius, Lithuania in the early 1990s. VSAT services operations were established in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Austria.[citation needed] 1999: Satellite services were split from Telenor core business into independent operating units: Telenor Satellite Services (maritime Inmarsat and fixed satellite services) and Telenor Satellite Network (VSAT networks). They would later form one single company.[citation needed] )

I'm deleting these in my update along with the other irrelevant history. I'll take some additional time to see if I can find sourcing. If so I'll add them to the articles of the precursor firms.

I'm deleting the entire section on products and solutions and infrastructure because it is undated and unverifiable without the original vizada.com web site; and questionably valuable. I was able to find a variety of wayback archives of vizada.com. Can wayback can be its own valid source for a commercial web site? I didn't see a straight answer in searching the Help pages. If so, then I'd be willing to create a much shorter product-category summary. I also want advice on how to choose which archive date-copy to use and how to cite it specifically.

I moved the TSF partnership section to history. Unfortunately I couldn't find a good link for the specific partnershp activities with TSF so I removed those. Regina Opossum (talk) 00:10, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
