New section

Since they don't really warrant their own article; would it be a good idea to include a section that mentions some iconic Westwood creations? Vandalism?

This page suddenly seemed much shorter than it was a month ago. Any reason why Ms/Mr 81.155.152.174 decided that over half the article should be removed? I've reverted to 87377079 and added back some of the things that were changed.

Fashion training?

For aspiring - insert some word that means rebelliously doing something without being conventionally trained for it - fashion designers, I wonder if she had any fashion training? Or did she just learn how to do patterns and so on over the years?

And maybe their should be a list of famous people who used to be teachers? Sting and former professional nudist Helen Mirren would be others.

Manifesto website

Should Vivienne's current website be mentioned, along with its "manifesto"? It's at activeresistance.co.uk.

The whole thing strikes me as either a tongue-in-cheek joke or completely pretentious. However radical she personally is, nowadays her shops are just one of hundreds of chains selling a canned dream. Biography

I don't know much about Westwood, and Googling didn't really help. In the article it says her first spouse was Derek, but in the Bio section is says he was Sam. A bit confusing? Poglad (talk) 12:31, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Vivienne Westwood companies

This section goes into minute detail about the subject's profit and loss over a recent period, but neglects to mention the first forty years of her company entirely! Do such detailed profit and loss figures merit inclusion in an encyclopaedia entry whose subject is not the company, but one of its owners? This section smacks as being written with the agenda of exposing the subject's tax arrangements as hypocritical. The subject has indeed received criticism for her tax arrangements, and a statement to this effect no doubt warrants inclusion in the article — but perhaps not an entire subsection that in fact only details the period of the subject's past that has been subject to criticism.

I suggest a subsection titled "criticism and controversies" or similar would help address the partiality issues that seem to lurk in sections of this article. Tyro1984 (talk) 00:34, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Birth place

Revisions to article

There are several items which I am going to address. I will do each sequentially, with a pause, so if anyone wants to discuss here and/or revert, it will be easier to work collaboratively.

1. Twitter links noting her passing need to be removed. I'll retain any of significance, e.g. that are more than just RIP Vivienne or such. DONE
2. There is repetition in the article, especially regarding her evolving political stance over time. The reasoning is clearly explained by her and by sources. I will try to consolidate for better flow. DONE
3. Her company's yearly earnings reports (profit, revenue, etc.) for the years 2013 through 2015, and the deltas between each year are WP:UNDUE in a biographical article. See prior discussion here on talk page. I would like to prune it back. DONE
4. There is some English usage that is not consistent with an encyclopedia. This has been noticed by others in at least one passage; I noticed it in many more. In most cases, I am certain it is not due to GB-English vs American English, nor "inclusion-justifying Wikicratic patois" (no disrespect intended to IP editor as that DOES exist!), but rather, fashion media-speak and marketing-speak. I will alter obvious instances. There may be others that I don't catch. I tried.
5. Duplicate references that need combining, and one spammy store locator ref that I will remove (there is a WP:RS ref already there). DONE
6. Keep the link to and mention of her Manifesto as it was important to her work and personal outlook. DONE

Two other points to be addressed, although I don't know the answers:

1. Someone who knows UK geography can drop a reputable source link for her birthplace here, and I will make corrections as needed.
2. Her marital history is complicated. I don't know who she was married to versus who was her partner. Sourced info would be helpful. I think she has two children, but am not sure. We want the infobox to be consistent with the article, and of course, the sourced facts! DONE

Born in Hollingworth

Note: Despite the two WP:RS sources currently used, Westwood wasn't really born in Glossop, or even in Tintwistle. As this book source says, she was born at 6, Millbrook, Hollingworth, i.e. on the Manchester Road between Glossop and Tintwistle (you can see it on Google Streetview, it's a row of 12 stone cottages set back from the road). Although this BBC source says she was born in Tintwistle and was buried there, at Christ Church. So I guess Tintwistle might be slightly more accurate than Glossop, but still not entirely right.
