Vitesse-Feyenoord

[edit]

I've removed the part about Vitesse having never lost a home match against Feyenoord. Vitesse has played 22 home matches against Feyenoord, which led to 6 victories, 6 defeats and 10 draws. Vitesse has lost at home to Feyenoord in 1972, 1979, 1981, 1994, May 1995 and December 1995. It is true that Vitesse has never lost to Feyenoord in the Gelredome stadium, but I don't see why that is relevant. Aecis 13:25, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hersi

[edit]

Should Hersi be listed as Dutch or Ethiopian? Yom 07:30, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He's Dutch, he played at the World Youth Cup before [1]. SportsAddicted 13:12, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Veldman

[edit]

Who put John Veldman upthere as one of the big names of Vitesse? I'll remove the name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.92.252.77 (talkcontribs) 08:05, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed players

[edit]

I have removed the following players from the Notable players section of the article:

  • Juan Gonzalo Lorca: played for Vitesse for only half a season, while out on loan. Played 24 matches and scored 2 goals. One of many players who have come and gone. Nothing remarkable.
  • Ante Mise: Again, has come and gone. 40 matches, 2 goals.
  • Giovanny Espinoza: 1 season, 28 matches. Came, played and left.
  • Dieter Burdenski: 3 matches, 0 goals. Had played for Germany in the past, but his last cap was about 6 years before joining Vitesse.
  • Paulo Rink: Half a season, 17 matches, 5 goals. Came and left.
  • Joaquin del Olmo: half a season, 15 matches, 4 goals.
  • Benedict Iroha: 4 seasons, 21 matches, 1 goal.
  • Stefan Nanu: 4 seasons, 61 matches, 1 goal.
  • Nick Deacy: 1 season, 9 matches, 0 goals.

All these players are notable enough for Wikipedia articles, but not notable enough to be included in the Notable players section. The section is not an extensive list of everyone who's ever played for the club, that's what we have categories for. Aecis·(away) talk 22:35, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 25 February 2016

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move. It appears we have consensus that SBV Vitesse is a preferable name. Cúchullain t/c 15:24, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vitesse ArnhemSBV Vitesse – I don't know who added the city name to the team name and is now going around Wikipedia, changing the name of the club to Vitesse Arnhem. That is not the name of the club. the name of the club is Stichting Betaald Voetbal Vitesse, abbreviated as SBV Vitesse, and commonly known as simply Vitesse. There is no mention of the city name anywhere. This is just a made up name, and nobody calls them that. I think some people like to add the name of the city to the club name, because they see it done in Germany. i.e. Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, etc. This is not commonly done in the Netherlands. The clubs in Holland which include the city in their name, are clubs that were helped out of financial problems by their municipalities, and as a stipulation add the city to the team name. Please let us change the page to the ACTUAL name of the club, and not make stuff up.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Subzzee (talkcontribs) 21:02, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I copied their misplaced response to your question to the proper place for the rationale in their request above. – wbm1058 (talk) 18:08, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, so that's why. Thanks for solving! - HyperGaruda (talk) 12:02, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If most are in support of the move can we move the page to SBV Vitesse? I just tried but it was not permitted for some reason. Regards, (Subzzee (talk) 17:45, 3 April 2016 (UTC))[reply]

Why Vitesse Arnhem?

[edit]

The article says widely known as Vitesse Arnhem, which I've never seen actually. I've only ever seen them called Vitesse, or SBV Vitesse (full name) so I decided to search the internet thinking probably British news sources call them like that, which is not the case at all. British news sources are also simply calling the club Vitesse. Only on Wikipedia does it say that they are widely called Vitesse Arnhem. Where is this the case? Please provide proof, because this doesn't look right at all. It's simply Vitesse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.97.201.154 (talk) 10:22, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but that is an incorrect statement. The official name of the club is Stichting Betaald Voetbal "Vitesse-Arnhem". The part of the name that is in quotes is the CORE of the name, outside the quotes is a secondary part of the name. You are aware that Vitesse takes precedence over SBV, I hope? So does the entire name in the quotation marks. That's why these quotes are there: to distinguish between the substantial and merely technical (incorporation) parts of the long name. gidonb (talk) 16:41, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

European record

It might be a good idea to split that off into a separate article soon. Govvy (talk) 14:33, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
