Merger proposal
[edit]With Original Night Stalker? 2/3 of this article is directly about the ONS, and there's a section there about Visalia already. It seems redundant. In the meanwhile, I've filled out that page with some more information from this one. Seraphnb (talk) 13:34, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
Bias
[edit]This page does not accurately reflect the connect between the Visalia ransacker and the golden state killer, and included a strong bias towards the theory that they are the same person. While some characteristics are similar, there are several strong differences as well. It would be good if future work on this article included counterpoints to the argument that they are the same offender. Basilosauridae (talk) 16:28, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
California police just confirmed they are the same person, Joseph James DeAngelo. I'm suggesting this article be merged with the Golden State Killer article.
Caught?
[edit]Merge Visalia Ransacker into the Golden State Killer article?
[edit](duplicated from Since it's suspected that the Visalia Ransacker & the Golden State Killer are the same person, should the Visalia Ransacker article be merge into the Golden State Killer article? Blaylockjam10 (talk) 07:42, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support They should be merged, especially once a definitive connection has been made. They can be split again if it turns out he's not the one, but it's looking pretty likely that he is... Veryproicelandic (talk) 06:10, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- Strongly oppose - Until the indicted/suspect/accused is specifically tried and convicted (or at least definitively connected via DNA) for the crimes cited in Visalia then there would be no reason to do so. There is still a due process, isn't there? Acting on assertions/indications/assumptions is for the police and mainstream media, not encyclopedias. However, if convicted, I would be the first person to propose or support such a merger. JabberJaw (talk) 09:31, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose That is, until we have more confirmation. The authorities have mostly behaved as if the two are the same since DeAngelo's arrest, though have cited 12 deaths, which would be 13 if the Visalia Ransacker crimes were included. However, they have not given out why they have done so. Carolus (talk) 15:19, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose until conviction of DeAngelo.Porphyro (talk) 11:35, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
Note: this discussion is mirrored at Talk:Golden State Killer#Merge Visalia Ransacker into this article?. Thanks. JabberJaw (talk) 09:39, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Merge Visalia Ransacker into the Golden State Killer article? (Part 2)
[edit]Time has changed since then as he confirms that he's the Visalia Ransacker. Both articles should merge since his admission to all the bad things he did. Who else agrees? Emotioness Expression (talk) 10:29, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
- See Talk:Joseph James DeAngelo#Merger proposal and you will find many do agree. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 18:32, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
I already saw it, and "many do agree" that this article should merge with another article because the person confirms that he's the same guy. Emotioness Expression (talk) 02:18, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
