[edit]

Hi there everyone

I have placed pretty much the basics of this new tax that is being proposed. The inital link that I heard it from is also there. I could not provide, at the moment, the exact link for where I heard that the tax was being imposed on the game Maple Story, due to firewalls in my work place but rest assured that when I get home I will place that link on the article as well.

Added more sources Maverick423 17:39, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't get to look at the sources but has this been put into a bill? If so, we should probably create a United States header and include such content along with the bill sponsor. Morphh (talk) 18:09, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split?

[edit]

Should we do a split between game tax and government tax? OhanaUnited 03:33, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well seeing as how the game tax and the government are both coexsisting it would be kinda hard to break them apart dont you think? Maverick423 16:16, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed picture

[edit]

I have removed this picture (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/72/Maple0667.jpg/250px-Maple0667.jpg) because it demonstrates cash shop but not the trading. OhanaUnited 15:24, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure the pic has to show the actual trading to be an example for this article (though it would be nice if we had one). The cash shop seemed relavant enough to this aspect. Though I know nothing of this game and little about this form of taxation. So take my objection lightly. Morphh (talk) 15:34, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This picture (http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/1684/tradedy8.png) illustrate much better. It doesn't contain any personal information (character name) nor anything that distracts the main feature of the image. It also clearly shows the tax rates. OhanaUnited 06:32, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Got some new info

[edit]

check the link its about vitrual assets and spending. some companys are thinking about using it to make a profit (looks like they will prob charge a tax or fee to do so) in anyways some one here might have better luck getting more info from it then me http://money.howstuffworks.com/ebay-ban.htm

Maverick423 16:24, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok basicly Ebay is banning selling stuff online. however some of the owners of the companys are acctually making their own trade site to acctually allow players to trade over it and make a little of the profit themselvs. (EX taxes or fees) Second life (game) is still availble for trading on ebay however the rest of the stuff like everquest and world of warcraft has been banned.the creators of Everquest 2 however set up (or are thinking of setting up) their own trade market for real cash and stuff (wetting their beaks in the process) Gov wants in.

thats a basic run down on the article Maverick423 16:28, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, for a long time, I know the ownership of virtual items belongs to the game publisher. However, it is news to me for eBay removing all virtual items because it's well-known for the so-called "farmers" to sell their accounts or valuable equipments to players around the world. I will definetely recommend you to add this content to the article. OhanaUnited 02:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok i added the information however im not sure about the quality of it so please revise it Maverick423 15:08, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
