[edit]I don't understand why the actual text isn't included in the article. In fact, unless I overlooked it, not even a link to the actual text given. (An image of the bill as proposed to the VA Gen. Assembly in 1777 can be found here: http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/jefferson/images/vc66.jpg and of the Act as passed in 1786 can be found here: http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/f0510s.jpg )
Is there a better source for the summary, which is unclear? Also, Madison's name lacks a link and Jefferson is cited as the statute's author in the illustration caption. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.71.246.219 (talk) 21:50, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Needs legislative history
[edit]There was considerable debate over the statute, which is worth describing. (Unfortunately, I have no references with me to use as the basis for a section.) 71.41.210.146 (talk) 04:52, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Too specific?
[edit]"The 793 word statute is divided..." Is that level of detail really necessary? dachshund2k3 (talk) 01:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC) (Lol I forgot to log in)
Today's status
[edit]Has the Statute been superceded or repealed or amended in some way since its passage, or does it remain in full force today? Either way, the answer should be explicitly stated in the article. Any objections? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.240.133 (talk) 00:43, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
