Virgin cocktail
[edit]I modified, rather than discarding, this entry:
- * Virgin cocktail, mixed non-alcoholic beverage
IMO it is there to reflect not the expression "virgin cocktail" (which i immediately understood tho i think that phrase had never occurred to me) bcz IMO the Dab entry is there to provide navigation in response to exploring uses of "virgin" as an adjective meaning roughly "alcohol-omitted". IMO, it is a perfect example of an exception of the rule of thumb
- A dab named
- x
- or
- x (disambiguation)
- should not have entries with titles x y
(IMO, a better handling of the situation is to ignore the preference for nouns as titles, and rename non-alcoholic beverage (which does include grape juice except as an ingredient in cocktails) to virgin (beverages) or virgin (beverage), admitting that "virgin" is intended as an adjective that has no corresponding noun.)

- That would depend on whether the beverages are most commonly known as "virgin"? I suspect not. while they might occasionally be referred to as virgin drinks or virgin whatevers, I doubt that is the most common name. There could certainly be redirects from terms like virgin (beverages) or virgin (beverage) to non-alcoholic beverage, but I don't see much basis for moving (at least not with more discussion and some evidence). older ≠ wiser 23:55, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to know why their is a lack of mention of the surname Virgin. --69.105.239.154 (talk) 09:40, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Virgin (disambiguation) → Virgin — Because the V is capatilised in British English the Virgin Group is sufficently dominent meaning that there is no primary topic and as such this should be the page returned when people type "Virgin" into the search bar rather than a redirect to Virginity. 77.99.4.20 (talk) 23:22, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose. I think readers would tend to search for, or link, Virgin Galactic or Virgin Records rather than Virgin if they were looking for a Virgin Group company. I think the sexual meaning is still primary. Powers T 02:04, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose There are far more virgins (whether sexual or other) in the world than people who have shopped at Virgin Records or flown by Virgin Airlines. That the word is capitalised is meaningless, as practically all article titles on Wikipedia are capitalised (at least for the first or, in this case, only word). Why force people looking for what is clearly the primary topic to go through a disambiguation page? Skinsmoke (talk) 05:03, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose. I think the sexual meaning is the primary meaning here. Swaroop (talk) 17:38, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose per Powers. Cjc13 (talk) 13:18, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose - Virgin Group is named as such because when Branson and company started out they felt they were virgins in the music business. Green Giant (talk) 02:41, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
