Orphaned references in Vinland Saga (TV series)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Vinland Saga (TV series)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "cruncy":

  • From Vinland Saga (manga): "INTERVIEW: VINLAND SAGA Creator, Staff on Returning to the Viking Epic for Season". Crunchyroll. Archived from the original on August 16, 2022. Retrieved August 16, 2022.
  • From Thorfinn (Vinland Saga): Cardine, Cayle (August 9, 2022). "INTERVIEW: VINLAND SAGA Creator, Staff on Returning to the Viking Epic for Season". Crunchyroll. Retrieved August 16, 2022.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT 17:37, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of Character section using Japanese Vinland Saga Wikipedia

[edit]

Karinastellar (talk) 03:33, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We have our own List of Vinland Saga characters article, so your edit was completely unnecessary. Plus, citing other language Wikipedia is WP:CIRCULAR. Xexerss (talk) 06:01, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Seems the Japanese wikipedia doesnt have its own list which might be why it's there Tintor2 (talk) 10:52, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • ... that the 3D CGI animation of Vinland Saga was inspired by the work of Shūhei Yabuta in Attack on Titan and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress?
  • ALT1: ... that the Vinland Saga anime series took liberties from the manga to properly show Thorfinn's transformation into a Viking as new scenes were added? Source: [2]
  • ALT2: ... that for the second season of Vinland Saga there was a proper attempt to humanize the slave Thorfinn in contrast to the benevolent owner Ketil who becomes more violent the more he appears? Source: [3]

  • I found multiple problems with the article, and fixed some prose, neutrality issues and a copyvio (long quote violating fair use). At this point I've edited the article too much to review it. I just want to caution the DYK reviewer to not rely on the quick-pass at GAN. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:00, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Reidgreg: Thanks for the help and advice. I'll try doing the same with other articles.Tintor2 (talk) 18:34, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BlueMoonset: About the time I have no idea what to do. Reid said he improved the article but then Protodrake undid the review. The article is still a GAN but nobody touched it so I'm kinda lost.Tintor2 (talk) 20:44, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GA nom was invalid, so I'm rejecting this nomination. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:02, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a music article

[edit]

@Lunar-akaunto: @Xexerss:

Since there are two soundtracks with articles but both lack commentary, how about creating a discography article and combine both soundtracks there with the singles created for the opening and closing themes? I'm not experienced with music articles but this article has a music section with commentaries from the composers. Bocchi the Rock! discography seems to follow this example and it's almost a featured list.Tintor2 (talk) 21:38, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Tintor2: Since we have already resolved this, I just wanted to say that i didn't respond here because it only sent me the alert badge for the ping today and not the day you pinged me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Lunar-akauntotalk 11:23, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Critical Reception

[edit]
The second paragraph of this section seems a bit long. I recommend looking at In-text attribution guidelines to give it a more neutral look.

Got rid of most quotes.Tintor2 (talk) 13:16, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is unnecessary detail in regards to the reviewers. For example “In regards to the first season, Rafael Motamayor of Polygon commended the character development shown in its first three episodes and ultimately enjoyed its portrayal of violence.[53]” could be shortened to “In regards to the first season, Polygon commended the character development shown in its first three episodes and ultimately enjoyed its portrayal of violence.[53]” or something close to it. The review might be a bit slow bit if there aren’t any more comments for a week or so please try to contact me. Sangsangaplaz (Talk to me! I'm willing to help) 11:11, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Revised. THanks Tintor2 (talk) 15:25, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Production

[edit]

This section is mostly written in first person. This should be changes. For example “The Viking ships were also challenging to model in 3D CGI animation.” could be rewritten as “Yabuta also described the Viking ships as challenging to model in 3D CGI animation.” or something like it. I am not sure who stated this to be honest so my example be factually wrong but the general recommendation stands. @Sangsangaplaz:

Music

[edit]

In this section, the sentences "Yamada's favorite theme was the piano theme in the first episode which he felt fit the story and visuals." and "Yabuta was impressed with Yamada's works, giving for example the first season finale where the music elevates Thorfinn's mental breakdown at Askeladd's death." should be removed.

@Sangsangaplaz: Revised.

The second paragraph also needs some copyediting. @Sangsangaplaz: Revised.Tintor2 (talk) 18:31, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Critical Reception

[edit]

The last paragraph should be shortened. And the sentence “ According to The Escapist, Einar adds to the thematic cycle of violence and revenge the series portrays, which was expanded by showing the downfall of his family and his resultant hatred for warriors. Setting aside his anger toward Thorfinn marks a departure of the theme in the series and in Thorfinn.” should be joined or fixed in some way. @Sangsangaplaz: Trimmed.Tintor2 (talk) 18:17, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Passed

[edit]

This article now meets the GA criteria. I t well written, well sourced, has a NPOV, and is broad enough in its coverage.
